Sadly, they still haven't updated their FA rankings, unless I missed Kenny and Siggy breakin' out.

Well, on a positive note, everyone else will go up once they start adding FAs, and since we won't, maybe we'll move down...

I'm not worried about our payroll, we have a lot of players that compliment eachother. However, I find it simply amazing what San Antonio can do for the money.

When you look at the list of our players and their pay you have to be a little ticked at how little players 2, 3, 4 and even 5 on the salary chart contributed to our playoff run.

I know Ron was suspended but it still ticks me off that its players 6, 7, 8, and 9 that did the most.

If there is any way to dump Bender, Cro and Pollard from our payroll we would be in very good shape. Too bad there is not a team under the cap who would simply take them for nothing.

Do that one-time only cut option on Cro, wait for Bender to be out for the season yet again and release him through "permanent" injury status, and trade Pollard for a draft pick.

Wouldn't the new CBA option only reduce the tax hit and not the actual payroll?

Yeah, but every little bit helps, right? Or maybe not; maybe cutting Cro would be redundant if you can do what I said about Scot and JB. We'd be out of LT territory by then anyway.

How much would they be on the hook for if they kept B68Mill (brad miller)?

Those figures don't include Granger. Nor do they include Dale Davis, James Jones, and Sarunas J., all of whom I hope we sign.

    Here might be what happens:

    Cro will need to go.

We'll need the Hawks or someone under the cap to take Pollard's contract without making us take much salary, if any, back. The Hawks might do this because they can use help at center and because they can't use the cap space this year anyway - and Pollard's expiring contract allows them to start all over again next year. We might have to pony up a future second round pick to make this happen.

We will also be looking for another salary friendly trade involving players like Bender and Anthony Johnson.

Despite giving several players away, our final roster winds up being very strong.

Those three moves could take our luxury tax salaries down below 65 million. I think the Simon Bro will live with having to pay some luxury tax; they just don't want to pay a king's ransom.

Don't forget. The Pacers were luxury tax payers in the 03-04 season. In a modest way. We just didn't hear much about it here in Indy.

My point was just that our rank (and direct payroll) would be unaffected although our luxury tax situation would improve.

But after I thought about it I suppose there'd be a minor benefit on the payroll as well since (using Austin as an example) we wouldn't have to pay that portion of Austin's salary that his new team would pay him (which wouldn't be much but every million helps )

This assumes I am following the payment rules correctly...

Yep, you're right. They would have gone up 60% next year. And my old seats, halfway up the balcony, went up the same amount as well. No thanks.

We know because of draft pick slotting Danny Granger will make betweem 1.05 mil and 1.13 mil for 2005-06.

When you make moves such as paying Reggie Miller $6,100,000 to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING next season, you really shouldn't be suprised to find yourself at the top of the NBA payroll.

You know personally the more i think about this the more shocking it is... I find this both amazing and outragious in the same thought...

we are paying our Players 76 Million American dollars a year...

IF you exclude Ny and Dallas because they have no idea that means we are no 1, i find that to be amazing sure other salerys will go up and by 2007 we will be back down to 45 but ****... 76 Million

can we afford this ?? thats a lot of Beer and Pacer Jerseys, maybe thats why we are getting new stripes....

Unreal, 3 years ago I'd never have believed ya if told me this would be the case...

I thought it was strange that after the season LB said that they were going to pay Reggie anyway. I think there was some kind of closet deal that even if he retired he would get that third year. They also could have did that in order to be able to trade his contract and bring a player like Garnett in. Maybe they saved so much last year (something like 10 M ) that this years big payroll won't hurt them. I don't think we will be able to bring DD and Sarunas both here if all we have is a mid-level. JJ they re-sign for sure and Granger isn't that much. I expect a big trade around July 22nd not sure what it will be but hang on.
