Default Jamaal and his street tendencies

A common complaint this offseason seems to be that "Jamaal reverts back to his street tendencies too often/under pressure."

For those who feel this way, could you please elaborate upon it? What exactly does Tinsley do streetball-wise that upsets you?

Personally, I never really had much of a problem with how Tinsley ran the offense during the season. I loved that his game had a certain amount of street to it, but I thought he did a pretty good job of keeping things under control.

I've heard people cry about the fact he challenged Ben Wallace a few times in game 5 and big Ben blocked almost everytime but in my opinion, thats not street ball, its just not smart bball. I really believe the only problem with Tinsley is health. He has improved his offense, defense, and decision making a lot in the last 2 seasons.

All I recall is, when he did stay clear of the rim, people complained he wasn't getting inside enough, and when he did get inside, he got rejected, and people complained about that.

People expected too much of Tinsley in the playoffs, I think.

I will never complain about that. Even with a hurting foot and out-of-whack sync, the man took it hard to the hole against the Pistons. I loved his heart, and about half the games it was actually effective.

i personally think this whole 'streetball' thing gets thrown out there when people dont like a certain style....theres this mentality that gets at me some...it seems to be that everything should be just like the 'hoosiers' movie when it comes to basketball.....that individuality and a bit of spice dont belong....

tinsleys issues have to do with his emotional restraint and composure....

he seems to have a real composure problem....tinsley is a fabulous point guard and player when he is dictating the action.....

tinsley gets into trouble when he becomes involved in reacting to some things that are going on on the court.....whether its suddenly a personal vendetta with his opposing number or being upset with one of his teammates....

the more tins stays out of that reactionary mode and stays in the dictating of action and have people reacting to him, the better off he will be, the better off his teammates will be, and the better off his team will be....

the street thing has very little to do with it....thats just a stereotype alot of people use to say something negative about someone...

He just went for the layup after the penetration one too many times. The drives to the hoop were absolutely necessary; he just didn't dish off appropriately a few times. But that's not a major concern in my mind.

Street tendencies? It's just some cheap catch phrase people like to use.

When Jamaal starts that petulant, undisciplined, reckless approach to the game, that's where the problem begins. And often times, that's brought on by poor play of his teammates, injuries and/or arguing with the officials.

I don't mind as long as Tins doesn't hang onto the ball for the entire 24 second shot clock playing 1 on 1 against the opposing PG.

    1. You like to go 1 on 1 pretty much.. (totally tinsley)
    2. You like to make fancy moves on the bigger players.. (latest example, playoffs on Ben wallace)
    3. You like to humiliate your opponents.. (and1 motha f*****)
    4. You look to score first, pass second.. (totally tinsley)
    5. You like to make Fancy moves on just everything you do.. (notice the leg-kick & rest of the unnecessary fancy dribbles which turns out to be turnovers instead)
    6. You like to hold the ball pretty much..

    etc etc

Oh come on now, Tinsley is generally a pretty unselfish guy, he was just forced to take things upon himself this season.

LMAO at Jamaal being a shoot first PG, the hell out of here. I have seen almost every game in Jamaal's career as a Pacer and Tins is not at all a shoot first PG.

Wow, nobody agrees... ok then, you are right!! Tinsley always PASS first and shoots second, Tinsley never goes 1 on 1, Tinsley never turnovers to much, Tinsley never makes unnecessery fancy moves, Tinsley never drives to the hoop and takes shots over 1-3 BIG defenders.... you WIN! What can i know? Its not like my 14 years of StreetBasketball or TeamBasketball can help...

Look, i know you guys do like Tinsley pretty much overhere and would Love to protect him no matter what, so do i... but im a honest guy and im telling you things from my own basketball experience, thats why i dont want to LIE... and i agree on that Tinsley have many StreetBalling tendencies no matter how much you disagree...
