Who complained? Seriously. I saw people disagreeing with the move, I didn't see anyone holding pitchforks and asking for Pritch's head.

What did this have to do with my post? I didn't generalize anything, if you weren't whining about how stupid the front office is I wasn't talking about you.
Again, who whined about how stupid the FO is? Here are the more "extreme" reactions in this thread:

    Horribly stupid.

Unless it turns out it was for a good reason. In that case, great move.

Another move this offseason that I strongly disagree with.

Is this what you call whining? You may disagree with those opinions but they don't really constitute whining. People should be allowed to disagree with moves.

leaving aside his injury issues, Ike didn't even really get minutes at UCLA, so relying on him for anything this year is pretty crazy

We are going to lack front court toughness for sure. Last year we lacked it, and now we don't have Kevin, Lavoy, or Christmas. I get the concern, but there is time for us to get another player like Seraphin. We signed Seraphin in September of last year. And people thought that we wouldn't miss Ian because of it.

Seraphin should be a better shot blocker and scorer than Allen. He doesn't have the length that Ian has, but he could give us a boost if our frontline gets damaged. Considering we were putting our eggs in a young Myles who will still has some learning in swinging the ball and keeping his hands up in the post. And Big Al who is injury prone. If Al gets injured and Myles is in foul trouble we have a player who can post defend better than Allen.

In that thread it was felt it was a good signing for depth. The outcry in this thread does not match what we lost. But I am with most. We need another center who can come in a play if Myles goes down or if Al eats Long's donuts three times a day.

Just as people are entitled to post their opinions, I'm entitled to think calling such a small move horribly stupid whining. I think you're being too sensitive here. Not a big deal.

I'm totally cool with this move, he had no future with the Pacers anyways. Now, KP has more flexibility for trades.
Garbage players get 1st round picks, (WTF)! All of the NBA must hate the Pacers! LOL

I'm making an inference. I do not know definitively that no one offered him a workout/contract. However, considering he's going overseas, I think it's a safe assumption. People rarely (never?) choose not to play in the NBA, if it's an option.

Maybe he has a special reason for wanting to move to Spain. I doubt it.

My point remains, he's an irrelevant piece. If he was really worth giving two bleeps about, he'd be on another NBA team. At best, he's an end of the bench type guy, why would anyone care to even disagree with letting him go. It's weird.

There's a european article that I linked earlier in this thread. Says that last year his preference was to play with Barcelona. When they couldn't fit him onto the roster his agent started looking at the NBA. That's when he hooked up with the Pacers.

Roughly two weeks ago Barcelona said they wanted him for this season. He's now where he wanted to be all along.

Heard that Mason Plumlee got a QO from Denver for about 4.5 million. I'd love to get in on that for 5 to 6 million per year for 3 years with 3rd year TO.

He's incredibly durable and really I feel he's getting low balled on that QO. Thus the reason he hadn't signed yet I suspect. Or, he's gonna be moved on a s&t.

Just like Noel and the Mavs, I see Denver matching offers. They are hoping noone bids and they get players cheap

We could. Would have to waive Al and then stretch his remaining. I imagine since Al is due $9.5 mil next season we'd probably stretch him for $2.5 per season. Would give us around $15 mil in cap space. Or we could work a sign and trade for Thad Young. Thad to Denver for maybe Gary Harris and Mason Plumlee.

So, seems clear that Seraphin moved on of his own accord. It's unfortunate this came out now, assuming that is the case. We might have acquired a different player knowing he's moving on. I really don't want to see AlJeff out there at all.
Lance is finally home. Whether he becomes our starting PG or he's 6th man, he's getting big minutes and he's here to stay. #llortontnia

No. The Pacers waived him. Contractually, if they hadn't waived him he'd play for the Pacers or no one.
"man, PG has been really good."

Well, yes. You are right. Still I think the Pacers signed off on his desire to move on. I guess my point is that it doesn't look like the Pacers initiated the move.

I'd say that this is a reach. There's a number of established European stars that never showed any willingness to play in the NBA. Times are changing now and I'd say that most young Euros are willing to come over now but this wasn't really the case 10 and 20 years ago.

Plus, it really depends on the situation at hand. Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and as strummer said it was his preference last season.

Seraphin is from France. It wouldn't be all that's surprising that he would prefer to play closer to home while having a bigger role and more money.

wait... are you serious? Put yourself in Denver's shoes and ask if you'd do that. They value Gary Harris highly, for good reasons.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!).

Maybe they will throw in Jokic. He is trash.

We'd probably throw in future compensation but remember, Denver is already a guard heavy team.

    Will Barton
    Malik Beasley
    Jamal Murray
    Emmanuel Mudiay
    Gary Harris

So Harris is the one that will need a big raise next Summer. They could easily lose him for nothing if someone makes a crazy offer (Knicks with Tim for example). They might want to move him and get something in return.

    Not understanding this at all............
    I think I do.

If the rumors are true that Seraphin wanted to return to Euro-League basketball, then this move makes perfect sense.

    1) Pacers gain some cap space.
    2) Pacers rid themselves of "dead weight" in exchange for moving a player up who wants to be here or can be better utilized (Sabonis...Bogdanovic?....either works for me.)
    3) Pacers retain a veteran big man in Al Jefferson who can still perform very well in the post in half-court (back to the basket) sets.

I don't mind this move one bit. To be honest, Seraphin really didn't start "putting in work" until the Pacers got closer to the post-season. Until then, he was kinda just going through the motions. You could see it. I'd rather mgmt had let him go to a league he wanted to play for on a team he'd really produce for than to see him give less than 50% on any given day. Let him go...

I prefer the lunch-pale work ethic and the post combo of Myles/T. Young anyway. They bring more movement and improved post-defense than either Myles/Seraphin - T. Young/Seraphin - Jefferson/Seraphin - Levoy Allen/Seraphin combo any day of the week.

Mildly surprising to me, but not a total shock. We do have a lot of bigs. And if we figure that Turner, Sabonis, and Thad Young are all 30+ mpg guys this upcoming season, well that's most of the 4/5 minutes spoken for. Not a lot of minutes left for Seraphin, especially if we want to devote some development time to our first round pick. I also expect that Bojan will be playing some minutes at the 4.

OTOH, it would be nice to have some insurance (in case of injuries etc) and Seraphin would seem to have been ideal for that role. I would rather have kept him over Big Al to be honest, but the financial aspect does matter and Al Jeff is still owed a lot of money.

Good luck to KS. Hope he gets another shot in the NBA if he wants it.
