At least Irving has two full years, and the third year is a player option.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

For sure...and probably for the West. I'm surprised that Magic hasn't made another "God is good" tweet.

Someday, I guess, there will be a star that mentions us when talking about preferred destinations. Like someone on Twitter said, trade or no trade that's a win for Minnesota, just to be mentioned. That's all I want.

    THis is why we wait

Could've done PG for Irving straight up.

I hope he goes to San Antonio. Patty and LMA. Another star heading West. This will end the conference divide.

Can you imagine if Kyrie demanded a trade when we had PG? The insistence that we trade for him, even though PG alone could get him.

The SuperMax is not enough to keep players at home.

No. Irving announced this way too late. Do you how many teams would have done their offseason differently if they knew they could have gotten Irving?

BUT..... if we hadn't traded PG when we did. How could we have signed Darren Collison?!

Seriously, people on here have not been hard enough on Bird/KP for how horribly this whole PG thing was handled.

They literally traded him at the worst possible time and got an unacceptably bad return.

They first had a window to deal him leading up to the draft, when they could have at least gotten a lottery pick or two.

Then they decide to deal him for a cap package, when anyone with 2 successfully firing neurons would have known there was no harm in waiting to see if a better offer would present itself in the next year.

Nope. And it's not even that shocking, really. No matter where they go in the NBA, they're going to make several, SEVERAL millions of dollars anyway. At that point, why not just focus on the situation in the league that appeals to you the most, versus one that doesn't but adds more to your already-enormous pile of cash?

If the super max was something crazy like twice the money, then maybe it would keep players home, but these bumps aren't 100% more, it's, what, 25% more, maybe? Or 12.5%?

And when the WORST case scenario is they're going to get paid well over $100,000,000,000 in 4-5 years of time, I can see players choosing their first choice scenario over the extra cash almost every time.

The money for top NBA players is INSANELY good right now, super max or no super max.

No one knew this would happen. But anything could have happened. It could have been Lillard demanding a trade. Or Klay Thompson. Etc...

Regardless, there was NO reason to deal PG when we did. NONE!!

They could, and should, have waited.

Some of you guys are legitimately mad that Pritchard didn't wait until 3 weeks into free agency to trade Paul George, because a move nobody saw coming just happened, after most all trades and signings have already wrapped up? Whatever floats your boat, I guess....

Cavs should be trading LeBron right now. Guess they didn't learn from The Decision or when he left Miami for nothing. No way I'd risk him leaving next summer for nothing. I'd get something for him now

That's BS! George's value was only going to get worse with the passage of time and especially after free agency market dried up.

Kyrie can prefer until he's blue in the face. He's under contract and doesn't have a no trade.

The thought crossed my mind, too. But that would be a pretty dry market, wouldn't it? I think most teams assume he's already out the door no matter where he might be traded to in the meantime, so why give up much of anything?

But if Cleveland wants to get any return value, I suppose they could take 5 cents on that dollar back. But is that small bit of scraps worth the ill will towards LeBron? I don't know, maybe to them it is.

A one year rental of Lebron even if you know for he's leaving is worth a lot. Factor in a team that thinks they can keep him, you're looking at multiple picks and peices.

Honestly, I think LeBron is the type of player that you could have a real conversation with him about his future intentions if you're a team who wants him. Plus, I think LeBron relatively open minded when compared to PG.
