I agree that there is a greater need at the SF rotation....but unless there is someone that is better option than taking away minutes from Dipo, Lance and GRIII.....then I'm not sure if there is a need for someone other than to give us some depth at the SF spot ( basically someone that is at the end of the bench ).
Anyone we sign at this point is most likely going to be an end of bench depth guy... might as well be the 3rd SF or 3rd SG instead of 4th PF or 5th C.

Tyler Hansbrough's shot was dead on during his stint with the Mad Ants this season. He was amazing. I hope someone gives him a chance in the NBA this season.
    Just not the Pacers!

Obviously energy and the "Play Hard" gene matter to Pritchard.

It's why I could see Tyler in camp. He won't make the team, but let him bang against the youths. Heck, if TJ Leaf is going to ever be a competent defender he probably needs knocked on his *** a couple of times in training camp. Good primer for the NBA season for the kid.

Side note: I could see Hans get into coaching. His brother's coaching at WKU now.

Oladipo is a guard and isn't big enough to play SF. Stephenson is a guard. He has the bulk and strength, but not the height to really play SF. Yeah, I know in the ECF he guarded LeBron, but he still isn't a SF by trade. That leaves GRlll who is a 3 & D at 6'6". Still not the size I prefer for a SF, nor am I convinced he's what the Pacers need at SF. The Pacers need a SF in the 6'8" to 6'9" category with length and athleticism to be able to guard the bigger SF of the league. I really don't care if it's a young player who has to sit at the end of the bench this coming season to develop as this season is a tread water project whose goal is trying make the playoffs.

Sorry, you had such a horrible dream,. but Farmer isn't worthy of carrying Thad's gym bag.

What I'm saying is that we will likely have some type of rotation with Dipo, Lance and GRIII where all 3 will somehow split minutes among the SG and SF spots ( given that DC and CoJo will likely be the proverbial PG when either of them are on the floor ). Clearly; Dipo, Lance and GRIII won't be playing mintues at the PF spot for obvious reasons.....so some combination of the 3 of them will be sharing time as the proverbial SF when they are on the floor.

In the end, as wintermute suggested and I alluded to......I agree that if we add a 15th Player to the roster....it will be to add some depth to the SF spot at the end of the bench.

I guess my question is: What teams would have the most use for Thad at the moment, if we were to look to trade him?

Okafor has a lot of potential. Averaged 17ppg as a rookie, granted that was on a garbage Sixers team- but he was the best player on an NBA team at age 21. He doesn't really suck.

Edit: He was 19 yo at that time, is 21 now.

Michael Carter-Williams also put up numbers and even won ROY playing for the tanking Sixers. There's a reason Jahlil is not part of the Philly renaissance.

Yeah he put up numbers...inefficiently. Has been a 40% eFG shooter since he joined the NBA. Other than that he's put up similar stats in Milwaukee than he did in Philly- but again was just so inefficient on offense he had to go. Okafor has been over 50% eFG both years in the NBA. Horrible comparison.

Edit: Okafor is slow on defense and would have to work on that - but Myles can help cover that up I think while Embid wouldn't be able.

I'm not comparing their playing styles, just stating a very obvious fact that they both put up numbers on a team that wasn't wholly interested in winning games. It's fine if you like him, but I stand by him not being very good.

A lot of Teams would benefit from having a Player like Thad on their roster ESPECIALLY one with his contract. I have no problem holding on to him until then to acquire some assets.

Fair. I guess I just think Jahlil put up more quality #s while MCW inefficiently fills up a stat sheet. (And did it for Philly and Milwaukee). Evan Turner Sixers years would be more fair than MCW imo.

Terrence Jones is another one of those "PD guys" (I think it was you who coined that phrase). Pockets of this board always want to sign him.
Just remembered another PD guy: Aaron Afflalo

    All-Time PD Team

    PG: Ramon Sessions
    SG: Aaron Afflalo
    SF: Terrance Jones
    PF: Magnum Rolle
    C: Danny Fortson?
    Uniforms: Flo Jo's

That's a sick team. Would battle GS in 7 games.

I think at this point we're more likely to keep Thad as the starter until the trade deadline. Let him provide some stability for Myles as he takes on his larger role, let him mentor TJ, Sabonis, and Ike for half the year to get their feet wet in the NBA/Indiana, and then find the contender that needs a versatile Forward role player and get a late first rounder for him. He's an A+ guy and I don't mind having him on the roster and within the franchise.

Going forward, it seems we have the personnel to replace him for the future, but in the short term, I don't see any harm in having him here. I kinda wish things could've worked out to keep him long-term to be that Jeff Foster-type veteran that plays hard and shows the kids how to be a pro and makes a great impact in the community. But given the moves we've made, it seems he's on the outside looking in, and the trade deadline is the perfect time to get someone to overpay a little for a jack-of-all-trades glue guy.
It's a new day for Pacers Basketball.
