Sunk cost. The pick was wasted when we took him. He's way too slow to be an NBA player.

I noticed that, too, about him each time I watched him play even in garbage time. He just didn't appear to be very quick on his feet nor efficient in his shot attempts. Wasted pick...only if you consider being selected at #50 a worthwhile pick.

Waiving Niang was a drop in the bucket...$100K. Peanutes compared to Monta Ellis' salary...$11.2 over 5 years (thru 2022...Ouch!)

I don't like waiving him before Young but neither were ever going to be any good.

Our only decent 2nd rounders in the last 30 years are Lance, James Jones, and Antonio Davis. We might as well trade the picks every year.

And Juice, but its the second round you don't expect much. I'm betting it is not too much different from the majority of teams, and the ones who have a higher average probably have a much higher average drafting position.

Damon Bailey brought a huge round of applause from the crowd at the only draft held in Indy. About as successful as you can hope for a second rounder--moderate fan enthusiasm.

This was only after the Pacers caused a damn near riot by passing him over with their first second round pick. People in front of us literally set their programs on fire when the Pacers chose William Njoku

This is a good move. Now we should waive Joe Young.

It never seemed to me that he had any legit potential to contribute, even as a backup. Next we need to jettison Joe Young's weak azz.

Georges looks like a cool dude. I wish he finds a way to stick in the league

Not a shocker. Wish we could have seen him play in summer league. But no matter how well he had played he still would have been buried deep on the PF depth chart.

The roster is starting to balance out. Just need to go wing shopping. Or wait and see if any shine in the GLeague.

Good to see. Guys who aren't good don't need to be on the roster. It's a waste.

probably not an NBA player, but no worse than J. Young. Really ****** luck with that injury in the opening minutes of SL.

Makes more sense when you realize Niang's contract would have been guaranteed tomorrow.

He should go to Europe he'll have a good long career. It's why you draft guys like Ike instead of guys who max ceiling is 'in the league. This always kinda seemed like a Bird move to me.

He was the 50th pick. It's not like he was a first rounder, or even a high second rounder. The only two guys taken behind him I might have liked to take a shot on were Bentil and Khalil Felder.

Should have traded him when his value was high.

Anyway, sorry to Niang go. I was looking forward to see what he could do this year, but then we acquired 2 young guys ahead of him, then he had that unfortunate injury at the start of summer league. IMO it ended up being a numbers game, since we have a lot of bigs and are short on wing depth. I wouldn't mind if he sticks around with the Ants.

For those calling for Joe Young's departure, FYI his contract is already guaranteed for the year.
