I am afraid you are correct. He's tiny on D and we will pay for that. It is never a good idea to invest time and money in a small guard unless they are super skilled like Zeke was.
I would start Joseph too but *shrug*

    DC will still be starting.

Hell nah, Joseph is a much better point guard than Collison and is not even close.

Oh man I'm so happy I don't have to watch DC as the starting point guard

Jospeh is really robotic. No shftiness or craftiness at all to him. He does not create offense well. But he has a good grasp of what he can and can't do and rarely steps outside of that. He's also a terrific long armed defender.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

BTW, this is absolute proof that Lance will be the SF. I am hoping they use DC as a shooter. If you take away the responsibility of running the offense he might be great in that role.
Lance is finally home. Whether he becomes our starting PG or he's 6th man, he's getting big minutes and he's here to stay. #llortontnia

I still assume Collision will start. He's the better offensive player and the better ballhandler.

That's not a bad contract. Looks like both teams win with this trade.

I'm sad the tank isn't happening but I'm excited for all of the cap space in a couple of years.

Wow. I thought he would sign for more.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

KP continues to impress this summer, loving the assets he's creating.
Garbage players get 1st round picks, (WTF)! All of the NBA must hate the Pacers! LOL

DC has turned into an excellent shooter and has started in over 50% of his games. Joseph only 20% and hasn't played as many minutes. Joseph is also only 25 years old. DC is 29. I will have to see Joseph starting before I will believe it. Not saying DC is the better option. That's just who I think is starting.

This looks like essentially a one-year deal, as I'm assuming Joseph will decline his player option if he has a decent season in the current market.

We needed a backup true point guard, but we got a better one than I expected. In fact, I'd almost rather prefer Joseph start because of the youth factor over Collison; however, it's probably not a big deal either way. It looks like the "Lance will play the point" was all talk, maybe to give us more leverage in trade talks or something.

Pritch's plan seems to be. Stay as competitive as possible. Hope Myles and Oladipo blossom into a solid pair and hopefully one of sabonis or leaf goes with them. Go big game hunting with cap space around that young core.

Dunno if it will work, but I kinda like the balls. Godspeed sir.

I think he is that stupid but at the same time I remember posting Pritch comments about who the starters were and he only mentioned Dipo/Myles at the time.

Joseph is young enough that I think you should see how he does as a starter.

Who cares if DC is better offensively, we should see what Joseph can do. Its not about wins right now, its about seeing who can do what as a part of the core in the coming seasons

Keeping in mind in 2 years you're almost certainly looking at a max contract extension for Myles.

A coach isn't coaching for 3 years down the road. Unless Joseph shows some abilities he didn't have in Toronto or SA, Collision is definitely going to get the nod.

Yep, but right now Oladipo and that pending deal are the only money on the Pacers books in the summer of 2020. (Aside from probably Leaf and Sabonis plus your pending picks)

Now time to get Reggie Bullock as a 3&D backup wing, and we should be all set.

I hear you, but that's a dumb way for Nate to operate if true.

Joseph has been stuck behind some great PGs, but typically has been a guy that plays in crunch time due to his defense and energy.

We know he's a great backup. I dont see how starting him over DC makes a big difference in the W/L column. But I guess we will see

Funny, all you hear around here is "Sign and Trades are dead in new CBA" yet it keeps popping up this summer.

You've got to admit, we haven't seen this many in an off season in a few years
Being someone who has said that quite a bit, looking back on it, there really wasn't a whole lot of reason to do sign and trades the past few years with the cap spike. I'll take it. Really like this deal.
