Anyone that's surprised by Bojan obviously doesn't know anything about him or hasn't seen him play much. Which isn't surprising since he's played about 90% of his career in Brooklyn. Then again, all these Nets experts on here that is surprising.
I'm not surprised he can shoot. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he can keep from getting lit up by opposing 3s.

Warning: The word I've seen is that, according to the stats, he can NOT keep from getting lit up by opposing 3's, if they're NBA 3's.

I'm mostly bummed that all of my Last Picture Show and Paper Moon trash talk is no longer in play. That's pretty specific smack talk material.

I have to say that as much as I thought the Nets were trash, he was a guy that could frustratingly score with PG on him which annoyed me because I always wanted the Pacers to just be done with the Nets and he would help them linger.

I'm not worried about his defense, that's not what he was signed for. If his defense was as good as his shooting, then we wouldn't have been able to afford him. Offensively he seems like a perfect fit for us. A complimentary player who doesn't need to be the focus of the offense to be effective. He should fit in nicely.

Oh, I think he's a solid pick up offensively. It's just the defense could be a major problem if it's as bad as it seems. They won't be able to keep him on the floor if he's getting torched.

Actually, Bojan has been playing at a high level ever since 2005. His career didn't start when he came over to the NBA.

Do we really care if that happens? It's not like we're aiming for a championship right now. We're just giving playing time to our young players to see what we have in them. Our W/L record this season is irrelevant.

And if he's giving us an efficient 15 points a game, that goes a long way toward offsetting whatever points he gives up on defense.

To me, if the idea is that wins don't matter and it's all about playing the young guys, then they never should have signed him at all and just let Glen Robinson start.

For a young developing team the collison and Bojan signings are much the same. They allow you to develop the pieces you see as long term within the confines of a broadly functional NBA offence. If you don't have a point who can initiate the offence or a reliable means by which you can space the floor then it's tough to develop post scorers, good passing habits, get open shots, create driving lanes and so forth.

I don't like DC as a player, I do like Bojan - but I get both signings from the perspective that simply pluggin in joey buckets or GRIII into those positions would be good for losing and potentially detrimental to the development of myles, domantas etc

Yep. That's how it looks to me, too.

I'll hold out hope that some of it is a system issue... but I'm not holding my breath.

Defensively DC, Bobo, Leaf, and Al Jefferson will drag this team down if they play for long stretches. Sabonis will have the Dunleavy effect. Good in a system, below average one on one. Young is above average. Myles is great weak side shot blocking, but his rebounding hurts us.

I want to see CJ, GRIII, and Victor together. That might be the best defensive backcourt we can put out there. CJ, Lance, and GRIII would be good too.

Can Ike see the floor off of the bench?

I just don't think we will have the defense to get out and run. Our half court defense might be the worse we have seen in years.

Glen cannot play 48 minutes. We need someone who can challenge him and give him some rest. That said, I'd definitely prefer it if Glen was starting.

If they did not have Bojan, I think they could have given Glen, Victor, and Lance 32 minutes each at the wings for 48x2/96 minutes at those spots.

In any case, I'm fine with Bojan being here, but I think the Pacers are going to try (and probably fail) to make the 8th seed, so they need to be concerned about his defense as long as that is the case. But his offense should be nice.

Yeah, I guess that this works too.

It's possible. Personally, I'd prefer it if we weren't going to care about our W/L record but it's possible that the FO does care about it.

It's the sweet 16! Competition level should be higher. Croatia plays Russia at 2:30 ET. Watch it here if you have access to ESPN3. By the way, the Replay tab will let you watch it later if you miss it.

Bonus! Basketball Insiders has a short look at NBAers playing in Eurobasket 2017. Here's what they said about Bojan.

    Bojan Bogdanovic

Bojan Bogdanovic is seventh in field goal percentage (56.4) and three-point percentage (55.6) and is one of the tournament’s most efficient scorers. The Pacers’ free agent signing is fourth with 21.4 points per game and tied with Marco Belinelli for sixth with 107 total points. He’s also fifth among guards in rebounding at five per game. FIBA ranks Bogdanovice eighth in efficiency. However, at only one assist per game, Bojan ties for 152nd. Bogdanovic and Croatia tip off against Russia today in the round of 16.

Guess I'll update this one last time so people 100 years from now will know what happened.

Russia knocked Croatia out of the tournament. Bojan scored 28 on 10 of 16 from the field. He was 3 of 6 on threes. 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Losing means we don't get to watch him play anymore but on the bright side, he didn't get hurt and now has more time to rest up for training camp.

Russia was great defensively. They made Šarić's night a living hell. Bogdan was good but he was alone. Žorić and Simon were in foul trouble, Tomas wasn't hitting and Šarić was off due to Russia's defense. Croatia has a lot of talent but it's been a while since they had a good point guard. Ukić is good but he didn't have any backup and at 32 he couldn't do more without any help.
