Still, it comes across as picking-and-choosing who the rules apply for. I hate to admit it, but it gives the race crowd something to speak up about.
There could be some legality that the NBA couldn't get around. Who knows.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

hicks, i think ur misreading that.....the last half of that paragraph is referring to what the old rule was....the old rule was for american players to be eligible for the draft the year their high school class graduates and for foreign players it was 18....thats how jermaine entered when he was 17....

now the new rule is 19 for everyone.....

This is the part I'm liking:

Players with less than two years in the league will be eligible to be assigned to the minor league NBDL, where the minimum age will be reduced from 20 to 18.

"Assigned" means teams retain rights. Good forriggin deal.

They've updated the article. Now it's more clear:

On the age minimum, American players will have to wait one year after their high school class graduates before they can become draft eligible. International players will have to turn 19 by the end of the calendar year in which they become draft eligible.
So international players CAN be drafted at age 18, but they must be 19 by the end of December.
