Default The NBA Draft - Pacer Digest Style - The Charlotte Bobcats

    Another change tonight

Looks like Martynas Andriuskevicius will remain in the draft. I had considered him at around 3rd or 4th on the center depth chart but then everyone was talking about him bailing out. He is back, I guess, so I'll plug him back into the center options.

One other change. Charlie Villanueva has leap frogged over May & Diogu in some of the mocks I've been checking out. So, now Villanueva is the top option at power forward.

    This is how this works.

    1. Each night, around the same time, I'll post a poll question. It will be the next team in the draft order. Tonight it's Charlotte, tomorrow Minnesota & so on. We'll stop with the Pacers pick at #17 just a few days before the draft.

    2. I'll list the current team "on the clock" and put a poll together with a group of players that could be selected by that team. Your choices will be two players at each position; center, power forward, small forward, shooting guard & point guard.

    3. Which ever player gets the most votes will be the player selected by that team.

    4. Once a player has been selected he will not be eligible to be selected by another team.

    5. Even though there will be trades that impact (thanks Jay) the draft, they will not have a bearing on our draft. A player most be choosen, we can not simply decide that the pick will be traded.

So, here's the NBA Draft - Pacer Digest Style

You're the one making the call on draft night. Tonight you are the Bobcats. Who do you select with the #13 pick.

Here is how the draft looks so far.

    1. Milwaukee --------- Andrew Bogut ----- 50 of 64 votes --- 78.13%
    2. Atlanta ------------ Marvin Williams ---- 29 of 56 votes --- 51.79%
    3. Portland ----------- Gerald Green ------ 23 of 41 votes --- 56.10%
    4. New Orleans ------- Chris Paul --------- 23 of 30 votes --- 76.67%
    5. Charlotte ---------- Deron Williams ----- 23 of 40 votes --- 57.50%
    6. Utah -------------- Raymond Felton ----- 9 of 18 votes --- 50.00%
    7. Toronto ----------- Channing Frye ------- 9 of 43 votes --- 20.93%
    8. New York ---------- Fran Vazques ------ 10 of 33 votes --- 30.30%
    9. Golden State ------- Danny Granger ------ 7 of 22 votes --- 31.82%
    10 LA Lakers ---------- Jarrett Jack ------- 12 of 28 votes --- 42.86%
    11 Orlando ------------ Antonio Wright ---- 10 of 21 voyes --- 47.62%
    12 LA Clippers --------- Martell Webster ---- 9 of 20 votes --- 45.00%
    13 Charlotte
    14 Minnesota
    15 New Jersey
    16 Toronto
    17 Indiana

Here is a look at the top players at each position that Charlotte will be choosing from.

At this point, Joey Graham makes the most sense.

They've got a point guard. They've got Okafor and Ely as power forwards. There's no shooting guard or center that warrants pick No. 13.

It'll also fit the style being built there. Okafor, Williams, Graham are all tough, tough players. OK, maybe not Ben Wallace-tough, but this is an expansion team we're talking about.

I really don't understand at all any votes for Sean May here.

    I went with Graham.

The BobCats roster needs are Center and SF. But I see Graham as a far more solid player then Martynas or Petro.

    PG - DWilliams
    SG - GWallace
    SF - JGraham
    PF - Okafor
    C - Primoz

Why the Sean May votes? Why not?

I thought this was a good idea when Jose started it but once the poll went away from what I thought would happen it compromised my picks. In other words I can't really put a lot of thought into something I don't think will happen.

I think what we need to do is wait until tomorrow when we learn which players have withdrawn from the draft, then everyone can post their own draft, we can then get a consensus from that.

I've gone with Graham for a while now. At 13 he'd be a steal.
