    Default PG TRADED TO OKC

If the Pacers had drafted OG, signed Hayward, and re-signed Teague, they could have put together a pretty decent homegrown team:

    Oladipo
    Anunoby
    Hayward
    Teague

Not to mention Yogi, who I wanted the Pacers to sign last year.

So we got a contract they didn't want and a player they couldn't use? Great trade.
And? Does that automatically mean that the Pacers won't know how to use them probably? JO is the perfect example of a player who was buried on the bench, but become an all-star in Indiana.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

I think Sabonis is going to shock a lot of people. He seems pretty talented. With OKC having Adams, Kanter, Collison and Gibson there wasn't much minutes for Sabonis.
I really liked Sabonis at Gonzaga, but didn't really see him play last year. Probably worrisome that he wasn't playing at all when I watched OKC in the playoffs. I keep reading scouting reports noting his poor outside shooting last season. Playing with Myles that shouldn't be as big an issue for us since Turner can pop outside more.

    If Woj report of:

Celtics offer: Smart, Crowder, very late 1st
Cavs offer: Gary Harris, very late 1st
    Thunder offer: Oladipo, Sabonis

Is true- then we honestly probably took the beat deal. Sabonis started in the league at age 20. Was picked 11th. The Cavs and Celtics picks are going to be late 1st rounders that probably don't make a team. Ppl just make a big deal when they hear "1st rounders".

And the cap space that comes with it.

This was almost a salary dump in exchange for a season's worth of AS play at the wing spot.
The Thunder are basically Pacers West. They aren't going to attract any big name FAs.

People not liking Vic because he didn't have big year in OKC is bad reason. Westbrook is extremely ball dominant. Tough to make an impact on Russ's team

They saved like what, 3 million in cap space? Not exactly a major chunk of savings for giving up their lottery pick from last season who showed some promise.

Thought that too, but he was a rookie and it was playoffs and he averaged over 20 minutes a game in the regular season. Sounds like he struggled last year, but that's a lot of playing time and experience.

There is absolutely no doubt that we took the best deal of those and the reported Lakers offer. People are upset because Pritchard led us to believe that the offers on the table were much better than what they actually were.

They've got a better shot with Westbrook and PG in the fold though.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

And when you're trading a great talent you should get something the other team values a little I think. I guess it's just the optics really, but it would've been nice to get a pick or one more player they like. Getting scraps for PG sucks and I don't think there's a JO hiding in either guy.

I know, rental, he's going to la, blah, blah, blah.

I think Sabonis was the difference maker here. I do like Gary Harris over Dipo just from an efficiency standpoint.

Idk, all these deals just aren't that far apart to be arguing we didn't make right move.
I liked Sabonis at Zaga, but he looked like a scrub in the games I saw last year.

I didnt watch enough to have an honest opinion but I'm assuming we will hear all the PR stuff about how highly KP and the FO thought of him

I have work to do, I'm going to put in my mind that KP has big plans this next couple days, like moving Ellis, Thad and Al for a more respectable starting five. (Magic Wand KP)

I don't think it was so much the money but the fact that it's hard to land free agents when neither you or the free agents knows where the roster is going to stand until that trade happens. Now it's more clear who or what we need, and whomever we pursue doesn't have to be turned off by the lack of certainty surrounding the direction of the roster.
WHY do we care about this years Free Agency again? Is there anyone thats going to be good enough and we have a realistic chance of getting? I don't see them. If so, then the need to operate in FA this summer evaporates IMHO and we didnt need to be in a hurry.

I rather just fill out this ****** roster with one and two year minimal contracts and call it a day. Then suck enough next year to have a decent shot at a good draft pick instead of getting another 12-15 pick that Im sure we will be getting.

This is so true wow, they got #1 pick and made it into the #3 to draft a guy that was not their first choice, then they missed their chance to get Jimmy/PG might lose on Hayward and are going to end up with Milsap or somebody worse

Meant the Cap space when PG becomes a FA

I love Oladipo, but what a terrible trade.

    Couldn't even get a 2nd round pick.

I think this is the 2nd worst trade in franchise history. It's mostly PG's fault, but what the hell happened to Pritchard? At some point it's better to not make a trade and lose a player for nothing.

We could've done worse, but this was a nightmare scenario. We helped a team get rid of its worst contract, gave them one of the best players in our franchise history, and got no future picks.

Sabonis is worth at least 2 of the garbage picks Boston was offering for PG.

I would have rather have Harris. Way better shooter and defender.

Would want to know what else was coming with him
Apparently Harris plus a low 1st that might have turned into a 2nd later. Doesn't excite me any more than what we got, and in fact on the surface seems worse to me.
