Last Non-Exercisable Year. Players in the last non-exercisable year of their contract cannot be traded after the trade deadline when teams can once again trade players after their season is over.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++

    Last
.....is listed by RealGM and is next to Deven George's name

(EDIT: AND DG's checkbox is greyed out so it cannot be included in any trade right now)

and BYC1 is listed next to Medvedenko

Now I'm not certain how to read the LAST thing for George but if Med is BYC...don't these make this whole thing kinda difficult????

I just don't like any of those players. We could get someone more useful at the 17. And even though I am lead enthusiast for the Get Rid of Bender club, I can't say we should do this.
Suave, I know you can read. It would be for the expiring contracts. You do like what Detroit did last year with their expiring contracts, don't you? It allowed them to make a trade that helped them win a championship, possibly two.

    Nah, we wouldn't want that.

Does anyone else remember when Chauncey said he felt the same way about George's potential as we did about Al's?

What a difference a year makes, eh?

If we make a big deal to move the contracts, that's a different story. But I have an odd feeling that we'll just swallow them to clear some salary.

Actually, the language is kinda funky to me, but if I read it right....it means he's a FA and it would have to be as S&T to do it.

Somebody used to legalese please interpret if possible.

You know, weren't we supposed to be getting trading to get rid of players, not add more players?
Don't ask me why, but I have a bad feeling we're going to let JJ walk if we do this trade.

Even so, financial flexibility is a good thing.

If we were able to do something like this, then yes, but do we have the roster spots to have them in the first place? Not to mention there is no guarentee we could trade for a player that would legitimately help us. We don't know if someone like Rasheed would be available. Granted, Bender and the 17 won't help us either...
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Only if we do something productive with it.

Remember, we're FANS of the team. Our #1 priority is a CHAMPIONSHIP, not saving some $$$.

    I don't see what everyone's complaint is.
Ok here is the production we'd get out of the #17 and Bender next year.......0!
and here is the production out of Slava and George.........0!
The only difference is that slava and george are much easier to trade or they come off the books sooner. That's all. What's the problem???

I still fear that if he ever gets healthy, he'll be a hell of a player

this is hands down my biggest fear. JB's "potential" is unmatched in this league.....he really does have the potential to be a larger T-Mac if he can get healthy and stay healthy.

i would rather just swallow the extra 7 million he'll get paid in 2006-2007 then risk him breaking out in LA.

only way i would even consider this trade is if LB & DW are 100% planning on packaging the laker contracts with pollard in feb. for a star quality player on a team looking to shed some cap.

shawn marion comes to mind as amare is going to get maxed out next summer.

    Deal #2: New Orleans
F Jonathan Bender, C David Harrison and PG Anthony Johnson for C Jamaal Magloire and F Maciej Lampe

This trade strengthens Indiana frontline and takes care of Benderís hefty contract. The Hornets realize that they are going nowhere in the mighty west and have already unloaded all-star Baron Davis, Magloire is likely on his way out as well. The fallback for Indiana is losing Anthony Johnson, but something of value would need to be included to get New Orleans to bite. Johnson would without a doubt become the Hornetsí starting point guard.

At least there is the potential of getting more than "0" out of Bender -- quite a bit more, actually.

There is no hope with the other two.

Only problem there is lack of a back-up PG.

If that deal went down, would we still re-sign DD?

Yeah, this has the potential of being a steal (if we move the contracts for a big-time player, and JB gets injured again) or a disaster (if JB stays healthy and breaks out, and we just swallow the contracts).

If the LA-deal happens ... than I expect atleast one other trade, which would have to be a quantity for quality trade, because, I might be wrong here, but don't we have to many players under contract otherwise?

we could include the 17th pick instead of AJ or just use it on jarrett jack. i wouldn't mind using some of our MLE on steve blake either.

i don't know about DD though if we got magloire. if he only wants the veteran's minimum then i would be all for that.

    Regards,

    Mourning
    C - DD/Foster/Harrison/Pollard/Slavo
    PF - JO/Cro
    SF - Ron/JJ/George
    SG - Jack/Fred
    PG - Tins/AJ

That's 14. Remember, we'd be dealing JB and our draft pick, so that's basically a two-for-two to LA, and DD, JJ, Gill, and Edwards are all FAs.

Yeah, JB can give more than zero production like Brad Miller can stay healthy for an entire season.

    (oh snap!)

Even if the latter is true, it's still not a disaster. JB could never break out here behind Ronnie and JO. And if we just swallow the contracts that gives us some financial flexibility for the future. The potential for good things coming out of this trade is far greater than JB's "potential."
