Default Is Robert Horry a future HOFer?

This is an interesting quesition I saw on RealGM. If the Spurs win the title this year, Horry will have 6 championship rings. He's been a solid role player on all of those teams (unlike, say, Mitch Richmond ), but does that make him HOF worthy?

I was going to start a dedicated Horry thread with his Stats and all the team he's played for another reason as like you said 6 rings is huge for Robby

Itís a interesting idea I'd have to say he will be in there as he does play enough and you can't underestimate 6 rings, only what 3/4 Bulls Players have all six rings so I mean, he'll be in the Hall of Fame, coz he was a smart player never a great player but he worked the league good and got his name where it matters

I never rated Horry and still don't but dang you gotta give credit where Credit is due

If you've been a key roleplaying cog in 6 championship machines, with three different franchises no less, you have to start to think about it.

No way, cause then Steve Kerr would be there too. Having these guys in there is a crime to the worthy ones there already.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Well, consider that Phil Jackson is a lock for the HOF. He basically accomplished the same thing as a coach as Horry did as a player.

    no...no....no....

    hes a good player....

the hall of fame is an honor bestowed on someone for their individual accomplishments, achievements, and performance.....

a championship is a team accomplishment....

now if they have a hall of champions....maybe....

without hakeem, shaq, and duncan...he has no rings....those are true hall of famers....hes a very good player who has played a significant role on a championship team....that doesnt make him a hall of famer...

In that case, would players like KG be HOFers? How about Kobe, if he never even makes the Finals again sans Shaq?

But, is that over a specified period of time? What about those who have 2-3 great years, then disappear?

It's the Terrell Davis argument in football. Honestly, it depends on how short a time they were great, and what they did in that time.

Or, say, Grant Hill if he had never come back after the injury at all.

i cant see any reasonable scenario where it could only be for 2-3 years...

if lebron had some sort of freak accident and passed away....he still doesnt get in....

i mean if someone came out of high school and was like mvp his first two years, his team won the championship those two years...he was an allstar and finals mvp....then tragically past away....maybe....but how reasonable is that?????

He's hit big shots and contributed but when has he ever been great?

    I don't see it happening.

I think that's a great summation, Arcadian. "When has he ever been great?" He has his moments, but in my mind HOFers take over a game, not only have key moments. They have both.

You have to remember, and i mean this is what first caught me off, we are not talking about 50 Greatest Nba Players or 100 Greatest NBA players, we are talking about the HOF where there are many basketball players from all over the world

I'm sure you could find many a player who's in there that shoulden't be and many that aren't that should be..

The more i think about the more I say Yes, I mean he has only ever had Dale Davis type numbers but he has 6 more rings, he has played along side some amazing teams

Next To Akeem and Drex, next to Kobe N Shaq, and now Duncan and Parker..

He has the right Attitude and Coaches love him that is why he has been able to play for these teams, not because he is a great player, but because he can hit clutch shots and has a winning attude and brings effort and that is worthy of a HOF nomination at least

No, He's hit some huge shots..But that doesn't make him an HOF candidate.

It's impressive..He's been apart of many of the championship teams in the past 6-7 years..But he's been playing with the best. First Kobe and Shaq, Now he gets to play with Duncan, Manu, and Parker.

Or, if you want to go the role-player route, if Microwave isn't in the Hall, neither is Horry.

his agent however should be given some serious consideration.....his help with selecting which teams to play for certainly merit some serious recognition....

    No.

I think there should be a special place in the hall for special role players, like Horry, Steve Kerr, Kurt Rambis, Microwave, Jerry Schisting, etc.

But those players do NOT belong with magic, michael, etc.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.
