This is why I'm shocked that Portland didn't offer Crabbe and multiple picks for PG. Would have been a win-win for them. Had a chance to compete and if PG leaves next year, they save. I'd still be calling them up and see if Monta and Big Al would get it done.

Send Christmas and Joe Young to Raps for CJ and Carrol plus pick(s) and call it an off season

    CJ, Dipo, Carroll, Thad, Turner
Lance, Crabbe, GR3, Leaf, Seraphin, Sab
    Sumner, Niang, Moore, Ike,

Thank you for pointing this out. I've been staring at Portland's roster and they sure are bloated, salary-wise. At the extreme risk of being labeled an IU homer (yes, I do have an IU degree, but I lost my passion for IU bball long ago), I'm actually wondering whether we could have Noah Vonleh included in a trade that reduces the Blazers' salary. Shades of Donnie's trade for JO: Vonleh's still very young and has been too timid & wildly inconsistent, and yet displayed his potential particularly when paired with Nurkic. Adding someone with his athletic profile to our team (Ike noted) would give us perhaps the most versatile stable of young bigs in the league.

This year should be about adding quality youth that can grow & improve together. I'm hoping we can use our salary situation to land any & all complementary pieces with star potential that we can acquire.

I'm thinking the Joseph deal isn't happening. We aren't giving up a 1st for him and I doubt Toronto ships him to us for a 2nd rounder.
I wouldn't bet on it, Pacers give 1st for a rental in middling CoJo and couldn't get a 1st for All NBA Paul George, that's about right, lol
Garbage players get 1st round picks, (WTF)! All of the NBA must hate the Pacers! LOL

They probably did but a team with Paul, CJ Mac, and Dame and Nurkic aren't going to deliver a 2018 lottery pick. Also Crabbe had foot surgery a few months ago. Might've scared off Pritchard.

They have nothing we want so we wouldn't be the team.

Also saw the Pacers might be interested in Willie Reed.

    That would be awesome.

    Maybe Thad for Reed.

I need to settle down. I'm getting far too worked up for a Sunday afternoon.

What makes you think Willie is that good? Thad is a solid player, want to keep him unless it means adding a shooter or two.

I'd trade Thad for Gary Harris or Okafor.

Well actually the Pacers got a player drafted 2nd and 10th in the draft. So your analogy is not accurate. I get what you are saying though. I would NOT give the 2018 pick away. Who knows where the Pacers end up next year. I think we will be surprised.

Didn't some here express an interest in Reed as a Energy Rebounding Bruiser?

If so....I'd think that he'd be a good fit next to our cadre of Myles/Leaf/Sabonis as a complementary Frontcourt Player.

    Also.....is Reed a UFA or a RFA?

You right, but I see getting Sobonis for taking Dipo's contract more then anything.

So take Paul out of the equation, if OKC needed to move a big contract to sign a big name and there are no takers without a pick being included, but OKC doesn't have a pick to give, then Sobonis is the next best thing they can offer. Now give them Paul. That's how I see it, I see 84 million in guarantee contract. Hard to swallow, he best play out of his mind.

I see the Wolves are looking at CJ Miles.

    Miles to Minnesota
    Joseph to Indiana
    Minnesota picks to Toronto

Not sure of the particulars with all the movement that is pending but it would be a win-win for the Pacers.
Minnie can just outright sign CJ Miles. They don't need to trade picks to get him.

For the first time ever, this will be the first time you'll hear me say "Keep the pick!". With this retooling/youth movement of ours, there's no telling where that pick may fall next summer.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

They've spent $31M of cap space to sign Teague and Gibson. Spotrac has them with only $6.5M of "practical" cap space left.

Maybe they did? Oladipo and Sabonis is a MUCH better haul than Crabbe and whatever late picks Portland would have with Paul George on their roster in addition to Lillard and CJM. Crabbe is not a difference maker at all, regardless of what Grimp may believe. He's a nice 3 pt shooter, 7th option kind of guy.

Edit: I read the rest of this page and Grimp is making a lot of sense.

The way I'm looking at the Joseph deal is.... Toronto is trying to move salary to re-sign Ibaka and Lowry. We're here to help them out so they should be sending us a pick.

Maybe we still have the draft rights to someone from the 90's we could send them.

Hoiberg was the coach when Butler/Holiday played with Chicago.

Thibs coached Jimmy as well, but I trust you're right about Holiday.
