I like Fournier, but I don't see what we can offer to entice Orlando.
Orlando has a whole new regime now. They might be in salary dump mode to gain cap space for next Summer. Vucevic and Biyombo are trade candidates as well. But they have a TON of guard/forward/guard-forward type of players. Whereas Vucevic and Bismack Biyombo are their only two bigs.

We don't have any place for him. We will struggle to find minutes for our SG's and SF's as it is.
Eh, we have less SG/SF types than any other position. We're an injury away from signing a G-Leaguer to suit up to fill wing spots.

I suspect the Pacers weren't willing to offer a 3 year deal to Simmons.

Boogie was apparently a big reason why they went after Rondo

What a great contract. So glad teams are coming back to Earth in terms of paying role players

I still can't get over some of the albitross contracts that role players received during the previous two summers

Guessing they'll try to get a great shooter to start at SF- and if they succeed I think the roster will be fine with a lot of talent. Like their chances to make the playoffs and make a series interesting if they can get a solid shooter at SF.

A playoff to determine lottery draft order? That would eliminate a lot of the tanking. I'd watch.

edit: But wait. What if a lottery team traded their pick to a playoff team. Which team would play in the draft lottery playoff?

You will still get tanking, but it will be from marginal playoff teams dropping into the draft playoff. Still get playoff games, but against worse competition. And a good draft pick if you win.

Just make it 2 out of 3 games (or just double elimination), so they would get fewer games than being in the real playoffs.
    Spoiler Spoiler:

FWIW, the team that tanks into the draft playoff will get however many playoff games it takes to win a top draft choice. That is the whole point of tanking into the draft playoff. More than they would playing the top seed in the first playoff round. But my point was you don't eliminate tanking with these various schemes to stop it, you just change the teams that tank.

The basic idea of the lottery is about as good an idea to reduce tanking as there is. You could tweak it some to make it more random or more record oriented, but you are still going to have tanking as long as the reward for getting the first pick is so important.

edit: Look at this year. Neither Doncic or Michael Porter are going to be confused with Lebron or Curry or even Paul George. The look like guys that will be good players, but not like guys that will be in the top 10. And even with a fairly low reward, there are a lot of teams that are looking like they want to tank. I don't have a solution, I just don't think there is much chance of fixing the problem.
