I suspect it will be used for other meetings as well, it's just designed for the draft.

That new facility looks amazing. If I was a Pacer I'd just hang out there all the time... Then again I'm pretty antisocial, so the thought appeals to me. Lol.

Flint scholarship plan gets $1M from Pistons owner Tom Gores

FLINT, Mich. (AP) Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores and a Michigan utility’s foundation are each committing $1 million to help fund college scholarships in Flint in the wake of the city’s water crisis.

The $2 million in combined pledges announced Wednesday aim to create a “Flint Promise,” starting with students graduating next spring. It’s not clear how much has been raised, though Gov. Rick Snyder’s administration previously had a $5 million goal.

Gores, a Flint-area native, says “every student who works hard deserves a chance to earn a college degree.”

Consumers Energy President and CEO Patti Poppe calls the foundation’s commitment a “down payment on a bright future” for Flint.

Many scholarship details are still to be determined.

Legislation to make Flint eligible for state funding to help finance the program has languished.

Kevin Durant: I heard Derrick Rose made James Johnson sleep on his floor at haunted OKC hotel

Derrick Rose (now with the Cavaliers) and James Johnson (now with the Heat) have both expressed their belief in Oklahoma City’s Skirvin Hilton Hotel being haunted.

Apparently, when they played for the Bulls earlier in their careers, Rose and Johnson handled the ghosts together.

Kevin Durant, via The Bill Simmons Podcast:

I heard D Rose, when they came his second year in the league, he made a rookie a rookie sleep on his floor, because, the year before, he said he felt somebody touch him or something like that. That’s what I heard.

So, the next year he made – I think it was James Johnson, it might have been – sleep on his floor.

I heard that story. I don’t know if it’s true or not.

Johnson began his NBA career with the Bulls during Rose’s second season in Chicago.

The rest of this story is too good to check out.

Should have offered whatever we could and make the Mavs match. LOL. That's a great deal for the Mavs.

Even with the max amount we would have been able to give wouldn't have gotten him but a second unit of CoJo, Lance, GRIII, Sabo and Noel is about as solid as they come

They would've matched any reasonable offers...he's taking the QO so he can be an unrestricted free agent next summer.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

He'd better average 18 and 15 all season long then. Improve that FT shooting too. If he gets hurt again, no pay day for him.

Yea, that really was a no lose situation IMO. You offer him a contract and if Dallas matches no harm no foul. At worst you get a young with big upside that can play next to Myles.

JMHO, but if make a run at Nerlens next season. He's very young Player defensive center that will be a UFA.

With the cap space the Pacers had left, all a contract offer would have done was insult his agent. Noel wanted max money. He wasn't about to sign a multi-year deal with another team for 6 million dollars per year.

As CableKC said, this scenario ensures that if the Pacers like Noel, they can make a serious run at him as a UFA next summer.

Minor realization after I posted it.....but i totally forgot that our PF/C rotational minutes at the Starter and Backup spots for the next couple of seasons will be filled by some combination of Myles/Sabonis/Leaf. I LOVE Nerlens as a solid defensive Rim Protector....but we won't have the minutes to give him if we run our expected long-term 3 headed PF/C rotation.

Offer what we could for a 2 year deal with player option second year. If he thinks he can get more he opts out. Should have atleast tried

If that was possible, I would agree it would be worth trying. But offer sheets for restricted free agents have to have at least two years without options (the third year can be an option, but not the second one). That second year is the one Noel doesn't want to lock in for small money when he can be hitting free agency next year instead.

    So... 2014 then.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

He also reportedly turned down an offer from the Mavs on July 1 that was 4 years/$70 million.
