Did you really read the whole thread?

Like has been said numerous other times, you are taking what they said out of context/

did u read what i said??? i didnt say they were being compared....i said they were being mentioned in the same breath....

i think that anyone that brings the two into the same conversation for whatever reason is being well.......nevermind...

i read the thread from start to finish...and thats why i formulated my thoughts the way i did...its different not being directly involved in the thread and seeing it from afar...and all i could say was ..wow....how ridiculous is this that mike tyson is in this thread....and if i didnt know any better, skaut ech and harmonica are the same person....those were the two things i was left with...

    Anyway,

I think if you really look at it realistically most of us are torn on Ron Artest.

Its funny, cause even though I am the head or co-president of the anti-Ron club (or so some would claim) I find myself more often then not defending him.

I was at work today, and while we were talking about basketball, RA came up. Now you have to keep in mind I am escorting janitors, literally the bottom of the food chain around all day, so it really is a different perspective. No offense to Hicks, but even as great as PD is, you just canít get the same type of environment. Some of these guys work 2 and 3 jobs, and still cant afford cable, yet Internet access.

As I heard these guys talk, and keep in min that I had said nothing, all 4 of them came to the defense of Ronnie. As one guy said "I feel RA. If I am already pissed off cause Ben pushed me in the face, and then I finally cool off and the first dude to mess with me is in the audience. I would be mad to!"

Now like I said, its just fun to get a outsiders perspective.

And I havenít checked to see if anyone scanned the recent Slam article, but I cant help but think of what RA said in that article. Yes, talk is cheap. But he had one quote where he admitted to being a bad team player with the Bulls (I think he even said he didnít ever pass the ball) and now he has improved. They also asked him about him proclaiming himself MVP, and he said he was just mad that JO didnít get it and he felt like since they had the best record JO should have gotten it. He felt like he was standing up for a teammate.

Now love him or hate him, thatís the type of attitude that you love to see, and that drives you nuts. He tries so hard to do the right thing and be the perfect teammate, it just seems he canít pull it off.

Now we can go down the list and spout off all the negatives he brings to the table, and at the same thing we can so the same for all the positives. The bottom line is even with all of his problems, its still hard to completely hate the guy. At least it is for me.

I mean, one minute I love the guy and the next minute I want him gone. He doesnít make the decision easy.

Now I will say this: The way I judge a team success (all of my teams: Orioles, Nationals, Redskins,Notre Dame, Pacers) is if they won the championship. Now say what you want about that, but thatís how I judge my teams. Now Iím realistic, I donít call it a bad season if we lose to the Lakers, but I sure as hell am not happy.
you know...this post isnt far off from my feelings on ra and why im a fan....

do i think hes misunderstood? yes....do i think hes a big reason hes misunderstood?? yes... is he the sharpest tool in the shed? probably not...is his heart in the right place?? I TRULY BELIEVE IT IS...IF I DIDNT..THINGS WOULD BE MUCH DIFFERENT....can he bring to the pacers chances more than most anyone else at his position? yes... will he screw up? yes...does that make him different from any other player or human being? no....

so it really always comes back to this....do i wish he wouldnt have gone in the stands? yes....do i understand how he might have been in a state of mind that he did it? yes...see above comments from janitors....

am i pissed that it ruined the pacers chances this year and reggies last chance??im a fan...of course...but thats being a bit selfish....

cause then im asking him to react differently than i possibly wouldve....and id like to think i dont hve some of the emotional issues ron has to deal with...

but if everything that had happened that nite had happened to me, i feel theres a decent chance id be ready to kick somebody's *** as well...not saying id do it...but then again ron didnt either....but i might very well step over the line....

and i refuse to hold ball players or any other human being to a standard of behavior that i wouldnt follow....

or in this case, i refuse to hate someone for making a mistake i feel i might have made if put in the exact same circumstances....let alone having the mind that has endured what rons mind has endured as a human being....

im a sympathetic person by nature....i dont condone the behavior...but i do try to understand it....
