Post Phil Jackson is Lakers' Head Coach again

Didn't really think he'd do it; just heard on local news.

    Report: Lakers hire Jackson again

    SportsTicker
    National Basketball Association News Wire

BRISTOL, Connecticut - Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant apparently have gotten over their differences.

ESPN is reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers once again have hired Phil Jackson to be their coach and will hold a press conference at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Jackson guided the Lakers to three championships but resigned after losing in last year's NBA Finals to the Detroit Pistons, due largely to his testy relationship with the superstar guard Bryant, which subsequently was detailed in a book.

Kobe'd never sign off on coming to Indiana. Which is probably good news for Pacer fans.

What if Phil uses his Zen power to heal Bender AND get him to break out of his shell? (If that trade happens)

I think they'll certainly be better off than with either of the coaches they had since he departed.

A season "by himself" so to speak could have enlighted Kobe to the fact that Phil can actually help him.

Phil's a damn good coach and he'll help that team for sure.

If that actually happened then I would like Phil.

Personally, I am so sick of hearing about him I can't see straight. Here's my take on what really happened. Dr. Buss said, "Phil either you coach the Lakers again or you have to marry my daughter."

this just goes to show u cant win an argument with a woman.....jerry buss didnt want phil as the coach, kobe doesnt want him as coach, but jerrys daughter wouldnt stop nagging her dad till he caved.....

phil didnt want to coach the lakers....his feelings on kobe are well documented....they dont have the talent level he wants....but his girlfriend kept nagging till he caved....

they never stood a chance.....whiney daughters and whiney girlfriends always get their way...it was the only way they could both shut her up....

It's interesting that he/the league decided to announce this the same day as game 3. I guess they really have decided noone cares about this series.

    I'm surprised he went back.

Weren't there some Artest/Lamar Odom rumors floating around at one point? I have no idea if either team would ever consider that, but who would be the better fit in a triangle offense like Phil runs?

Speaking of which, is Tex Winters going to join him there?

Exactly. The man has had it nice...Jordan/Pippen, Shaq/Kobe. He's just good at massaging egos.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

My first thought was along your thought. It was, "you might as well coach my team, you're banging my daughter".

I think it is great for Odom's career. He should be great in the triangle.

They won't win the title or anything but if the Lakers stay healthy they'll win 50 next year. Phil may have thought Kobe was uncoachable but I think the last year has proven that wrong.

At least we won't have to hear anymore from Pistons fans. Their pipe dream of landing Jackson after LB's departure has been dashed.

Sounds good to me. He's on my fantasy team.
