This was Indiana's first mistake. They should have hooked PG up with a local catholic girl...

I think I'd prefer 'bottoming-out' then getting Kevin Love. He doesn't really get us anywhere besides a low playoff seed and out of the early lottery.

The only way I could see Hayward signing here is if PG was here and committed long-term. I don't think there's any shot now over Utah or Boston.
Now my post about signing Hayward was more of wishful thinking HOWEVER, say we get Love from Cleveland and field a front court of Turner/Love... If the reports are legit that he's considering Miami, is their roster on paper really that much better than a Pacers team that features Love and Turner, and whatever additions you can muster? They seem pretty similar, but Indiana has the advantage of being the home town team, if that sways him at all.

    Just my 2 cents.

    "Lakers get: Paul George

Pacers get: Luol Deng and the No. 2 pick

View trade in ESPN's trade machine

Why the Lakers do it: George reportedly wants to play for the Lakers, and he would immediately improve the team. With their first-round pick going to the 76ers next year, the Lakers do not need to tank anymore. Winning is now a priority in L.A.

    2017 NBA draft

Get ready for Markelle Fultz, Lonzo Ball and the 2017 draft, with analysis from Chad Ford and other ESPN experts.

While the Lakers could be patient and wait a year for George, getting him now with the opportunity to re-sign him in 2018 (when he can become a free agent) might be worth swapping a player such as Lonzo Ball, who has star appeal but is not seen by the Lakers as a sure thing.

And getting Deng's horrible deal off the books would be a major bonus.

Why the Pacers do it: They know that all signs and reports point to George leaving next year via free agency. Landing the No. 2 pick and the chance to draft a potential superstar like Ball is the best possible outcome for a George trade.

New GM Kevin Pritchard fancies himself as a point guard whisperer. He'll feel as if he can get the most out of Ball."
I really don't feel like going through the same thing with Ball in a few years. I'd pick anyone over him just for that reason.

Agree. I'd go Fox personally. Would be okay with Jackson, Tatum, or Isaac.

Kevin love is 2 years older than George and not as good. He'll demand a trade out as soon as he comes in. Makes no sense to me but whatever.

If Lakers put #2 on the table at this point, I think you'd take it and run. Problem is, my guess is they're feeling pretty confident right now and would rather just hang onto the pick and get Paul George in a year. The only team I think that could MAYBE derail that is if the Cavs if PG won a title in Cleveland with LeBron and Kyrie. However, I would stop watching the NBA long before that happened.

Crazy to think Love is only 2 years older than PG. Damn lol can't believe he's already 27.

Anyways, I think Josh Jackson is the closest thing to a potential Kawhi/PG player we will need in the future. Just hope we're able to trade PG for that top 3 pick to draft him

Idk how there would be any hesitation about the #2 pick. Thats best case scenario. Seems too good to be true.

You think Paul would slide to the 2 in Cleveland, or would LeBron shuffle to the 4? I think the latter.
Or maybe Lebron will tell Paul to play the 4 spot. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

If CLE ends up being a trading partner, everyone thinks Kevin Love but I wonder about Tristan Thompson (and maybe a future pick). He might be the closest thing you can get to a guy you could pair with Myles Turner where Myles would play the 4 offensively and Thompson would be the 4 defensively, and if you're wanting a stronger/scrappier guy for defense and rebounding, he could counter-balance Myles in that regard, too.

Meanwhile, he really struggled against the Warriors, so Cleveland could swap him for Paul, keep Kevin Love, and go back to the Finals with their own 'ultra team' next season, which should be awfully tempting to them.

    Just a thought.

This breakup will be ugly...luckily we still have Monta!
    I strangely don't think so.

At least to the levels of LeBron/Cleveland the first time around.

As usual, a catastrophe in the Pacers world and KSTAT is here telling everyone how stupid they are.

I doubt the #2 pick was ever really off the table for PG.

I wonder if that would be a good start to enticing Hayward to come home to play for the Pacers?

I think PG will go to Cleveland for this season if they lose another Finals he will go to the Lakers

Question: Will LeBron go with him?

I think this is a storyline that's being overlooked by many here after the latest developments.

Why would Hayward leave a playoff team that unlike the Pacers actually got to the Second round for the Pacers who really don't have a whole lot going on beyond playing in a crappy conference.

And don't give me that he and his wife are from the area just because PG wants to go home doesn't mean every other player does.

There's really only the Kawhi Leonard move that would've kept PG in Indy. Even if Bird had signed someone like Paul Millsap for the salary cap hits of useless signings like Jefferson + Ellis, that's still not enough to keep PG here in my opinion. Maybe the Pacers should've flipped PG to Boston in retrospect, but he's also the most talented Pacer I've seen, so it's still not the easiest decision until you know for sure of his intentions.

PG is doing this franchise a favor telling us 4 days before the draft that way Pritchard can plan ahead. Imgine if he kept his mouth shut like KD or told us before the season & Pritchard went all in trying to win now? Like dealing the #18 for a bad contract.

PG was never resigning here...even with an all-NBA team. This is good news today

Unless it turns into a Kobe situation where in the end he changes his mind after making a Finals run when Pau Gasol came their way a few months later I think PG 13 is gone but I agree

Kawhi going to the Spurs was the first domino to today.

This is why I get amused when people said KD and LeBron handled it better than PG did. Those teams got nothing in return(well the Cavs got LeBron and draft picks back so that might've been all by design, OKC was screwed though)

That being said I don't begrudge any of them for doing what's best for their careers but I think PG handled it better than the other two in comparison.

It would've been nice had he done it behind closed doors and not had his agent leak it to Woj.

First time in a long time, I've been happy with the team that was constructed, and now they struggle. I blame the coach.
