Leaked or not I'm pretty sure everybody in the NBA knew it, I mean I've posted multiple videos of NBA people talking about this for months.
It never becomes official until the player himself confirms it, though. I'm glad that PG made it official to the team but this shouldn't have been leaked.

My whole issue with this situation is the leak. I'm fine with PG making it crystal clear to our FO that he's leaving (especially since our FO has been incredibly stubborn and blind in the past) but this shouldn't have been leaked. The leak completely kills our leverage.
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

If him wanting to leave makes him dead to you the that's fine. There was no other way to do this. He tried to be subtle and apparently it was going nowhere.
I fail to see how this leaking is anymore effective at getting him traded than simply telling Indiana he's gone.

I'd just keep him. Let him get treated like **** from the local fans. Overall play bad as a team and try to set up for the lottery. Do one more year of poor play for lottery. Fire Nate and hope last two picks were good. Make LA sign him outright to fallen their cap situation vs having him on board going into free agency in 18.

If still not good, Simon will sell the team, Pacers will leave Indy for Seattle to restart the Sonics. Book it.

You have to draft that top 5-7 player, that's the only way Indiana will get that guy..you have to suck enough and get lucky to hit that superstar...OKC was the way to build a team, even when the Pacers were great in early 2010's they couldn't get crap to show up as free agents, lucky to get Gerald Green and DJ Augustin.
David West was a free agent and probably the third best player on the team. I agree the Pacers will never sign elite free agents but if you run your franchise well and make it a place where players like to play, you can sign very good contributing players.

Of course, Larry Bird probably undermined any chance of the Pacers getting that reputation for a little while.

Why try to build a playoff team? Process it. Trade everyone and field a D-league team for 4 years.

Unfortunately getting to the ECF's is our championship. We are an mid-major, getting to the final four is a huge deal. If we get there once or twice a decade we should be happy. That is where we are in the league.

He really ****ed us over here.

This makes this draft pick more important than ever. We need to look for a player with franchise potential, I think can't waste it.

He needs to be moved for something this offseason. Wasting this season would be the worst thing this team can do. Hand the reigns to Teague and Turner, prepare for the Turner-era and a rebuild, snag a top pick next season.

Disappointing, but at this point we need to cut our losses.

We should have traded him in 2015. Any player who may be a star in a small market should be traded to a big market. 8 team league.
Actually how dare we draft someone who is going to be a top 10 or 12 player in the NBA. we should just fold the franchise

To win anything, you need a player like Paul George as your third best player. We were never winning anything because we never tanked.

My thinking is Pacers were asking for a lot from Lakers and in typical Pacers fashion they were ready to sit on their hands.

Now this report destroys whatever they had.

Being subtle is silly. If you wanna go, just say it. Don't expect the front office to be Ms. Cleo and try to read your mind.

You think he didn't let them know long ago?

There wasn't any progress being made. That's the only way to read this. They were dragging their feet or asking for way too much and this is his response.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Also put a fork on the Hayward dream for good.

    And the Howard dream.

According to the reports he let them know last week, so no I don't think he did.

If I can read it the people that employ him can read it. And I'm sure he's told them privately while being subtle with the public to not kill his trade value more than it already is.

Something changed to make him go from subtle to sledgehammer. I doubt it's because he felt like being mean.

so you see no difference between winning 22 games and 46 games? I can guarantee potential free agents do

No need to sign a mid tiered player on a big contract.

Just go young, position yourself for some nice draft picks and flexibility over the next few years. We shouldn't be paying anyone near 20 mil on this roster for the foreseeable future

Imagine the Pacers with Dwight Howard, Monta, Big Al, and Trevor Ariza or some **** (that is the kind of guy we would have gotten for the 18th pick) because we tried to go all in for PG and he left anyway.

Potential free agents see Indianapolis, a medium sized city in a backwards state, and move on.

Everyone wants to trade PG now. Just remember on February 23rd you coulda had multiple 1st round picks, a top 2 pick, players, whatever u wanted to rebuild this franchise overnight instead of how they're going to do it now. Nobody wanted it. Now enjoy the rebuild. Suckers.

We're just on Internet message boards and our opinions have no real value. The Pacers FO on the other hand actually does make relevant decisions that have consequences. Just the other day he said he wanted to win a championship with the Pacers! He's done nothing but send mixed emotions and played mind games. I think it's been obvious for a while that he's heavily considering leaving, but my opinion on a message board means nothing. It's a tougher call when you're handling the biggest talent in franchise history.
