We should have traded him in 2015. Any player who may be a star in a small market should be traded to a big market. 8 team league.

This is a different leak, though. This is much more definite leak than simply his agent saying stuff and posturing.
I think is different just because the Pacers front office was in denial, now they know.

Turner is the future of this team, I'd absolutely package PG + 18 for #2 if we need to.
Lol we ain't getting the #2 pick in a PG trade--not even close.

I'd like to grab Randle or Russel from LA if possible.

Unfortunately, Turner will never be at that level... But yes, the Paces MUST target Josh Jackson as IMO he will be on Paul George's level within just a couple years.

It does not hurt him at all. He will be a star in LA.
Obviously. But he would be a star in LA regardless of what happened when he went there. All this leak changes for PG is that his merc sales in Indiana will decline one year earlier than they otherwise would.

Either the Lakers brass are the sources, PG's camp carelessly let it out, or PG deliberately let this out so the cupboards would be as stocked as they could when he comes home.

I hope he is 35 and the Lakers still suck.

How is this a surprise to anyone? This was the most obvious all star defection I've seen in years.
He told us he wanted to win a championship here though.

It was amazing to me how many people on here had their head in the sand after the Kimmel interview. PG wouldn't have made it anymore obvious if he said "hell yeah I want to join the Lakers". The giddy look on his face about not taking to Kobe "yet", and the "I love Indy though" said it all.

I did think he'd give us a year to make something happen though.

Possibly. In any case, this should have never been leaked and whoever leaked it has done us more harm than LeBron ever did.

I think the best possible trade the Pacers can hope for from Lakers is PG + Thad + 18 for Deng + Mozgov + either 2nd pick or Ingram. The Pacers are going to have to take back their crap if they want any "leverage" at all.

It tries to help the Lakers try and get LeBron next summer also as Thad is way more trade bait than those 2.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Yeah...good teams that lack a championship. And to obtain that, you'll need, at minimum, a player of PG's caliber or better. And again, we achieved that only once in 30+ years! So yes, I do find this LeBron-type devastating for our particular franchise; because, there's a good chance we may never have that again.
The NBA is a player's league and you have to have a top 5-7 player in most cases to be a real contender. The Pacers will probably never get a top 5-7 player.

The best thing the Pacers can do is build very good teams, which we had most years from 94-04 and again from 13-15, and hope we run into a situation like the Pistons did where the team of the biggest superstar in the league (at the time Kobe) breaks down.

Leaked or not I'm pretty sure everybody in the NBA knew it, I mean I've posted multiple videos of NBA people talking about this for months.

It appears people in the front office weren't getting the hint. And he left plenty of hints. So now he had to use the sledgehammer and beat it into the franchise that he wants out.

Could have traded him long before this for a king's ransom. Been pro-active. But no, now it gets to end ugly.
Because Larry Bird was ****ing stubborn. Sucks to lose PG but knowing that we're gonna not have to deal with the same old **** from Bird lessens the sting a bit.

I have been saying his all along, if George states that he is gone, this is my best scenario. Maybe take on Deng and their late first to help them clear space for a Russell type player.

    Three team trade:

Pacers get Russell, Randle, Deng, and #28 or whatever it is

    Thunder get Ingram, and #2

    Lakers get George and Russell

    Vomit!!!!!!!

If him wanting to leave makes him dead to you the that's fine. There was no other way to do this. He tried to be subtle and apparently it was going nowhere.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

You have to draft that top 5-7 player, that's the only way Indiana will get that guy..you have to suck enough and get lucky to hit that superstar...OKC was the way to build a team, even when the Pacers were great in early 2010's they couldn't get crap to show up as free agents, lucky to get Gerald Green and DJ Augustin.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. I'd trade him to Golden State for a 2nd rounder if they can find a way to match salary just for the laughs. Otherwise I would just Tinsley him and tell him to take a year off and look for his new house.
