One thing to keep in mind, in the summer of 2018 cap space becomes important again. But it will be almost impossible to get a big time free agent to come here to a 30 win team without PG
A big time free agent was never coming to Indy.

Trade him to the Pistons and they win over 50 games. No suffering there
I think there's one and only one place that PG wants to be.

Hint: it's the place with the new GM who continues to make a mockery of league business with winking and tweets, and gets away with it because of his stature.

Well, that sucks. This is what I want to know, though. Why does Woj knows this? I know that this is his job but the job of our FO (and our players) is to not allow information like that to come out. I hate that PG wants to leave but if he's set on leaving then he has to inform our FO about it so they can work a trade. But the leak absolutely kills any trade value that he had. So, we're screwed because somebody blabbed.
Word gets out to other teams, other agents, other GM's. Maybe the Pacers have stepped up their pursuit of trading PG. there are few secrets in the NBA

He didn't announce a year early that he was leaving. He told the FO that he was going to leave so they can trade him and get something out of him, at least.

But then someone freaking leaked it.

His agent leaked it, same way he did during trade deadline and people thought it was fake news.

Typically his sources are player agents, as I understand it. They have no loyalty to anyone but their clients.

PG shirts were already on sale at Walmart. Wait a few days and they'll be cheaper.

Yeah, I get it. But situations like this are extremely important so having that leaked is absolute BS.

I want to put my head through a wall and I'm not even a party to this.

How is this a surprise to anyone? This was the most obvious all star defection I've seen in years.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

The draft is going to be something, I think we see Thad get dumped for some sort of 1st round pick either with 18 to move up or a late 1st.

The future of the team is Myles Turner with a splash of GR3...it's going to be imperative to do well with this draft..get multiple picks or move up to get 1 star player, this is considered a deep draft.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

This is why it was sheer stupidity that we did not deal him during the trade deadline. And honestly, we should have explored options to move Teague as well during the deadline as tying up your cap to an average NBA point guard is also lunacy.

Never, but just because PG is the best ever Pacer doesn't mean he's an elite player. The Pacers have never had any elite players. All of our good teams were just that, teams.
Yeah...good teams that lack a championship. And to obtain that, you'll need, at minimum, a player of PG's caliber or better. And again, we achieved that only once in 30+ years! So yes, I do find this LeBron-type devastating for our particular franchise; because, there's a good chance we may never have that again.

It appears people in the front office weren't getting the hint. And he left plenty of hints. So now he had to use the sledgehammer and beat it into the franchise that he wants out.

Could have traded him long before this for a king's ransom. Been pro-active. But no, now it gets to end ugly.

This is a different leak, though. This is much more definite leak than simply his agent saying stuff and posturing.

Turner is the future of this team, I'd absolutely package PG + 18 for #2 if we need to.

I think there's a decent chance Teague is back...the Pacers will offer the money imo and I don't think PG and Jeff got along very well at all...I was stunned Teague showed up to Paul's event but I think as an Indiana guy he felt inclined to show.
