"Indianaís ability to find a trade for George elsewhere has become increasingly limited, if not crippled, because NBA teams believe that itís Georgeís intention to eventually sign with the Lakers as a free agent in 2018."

If he wanted to help the Pacers plan for their future without him, he should've told his camp to shut the **** up. They won't get anything of value for him and any future Lakers picks won't be worth anything because it's quite obvious he's going to team up with LeBron sometime in the future in LA.

Well this directly contradicts what he said as recently as the other day.

I know Woj is treated like Nostradamus but it still smacks a bit of pressure coming out of Laker land to trade them Paul George for a pu-pu platter. Why inform the team of all this two days after saying the exact opposite publicly?

At least he is being upfront. Well on to less than mediocre most likely, but you never know.

Why people got such a positive vibe from, "I'm under contract with the Pacers", I'll never know.

At very least we didn’t spend an offseason committing senselessly to long term contracts in a final desperate bid to convince him to stay.

Have to say, whether you are in the camp that saw this coming, or were totally blindsided by it - we are all united in being totally gutted today.

He said a lot more than that and really went above and beyond when he could have just avoided the question entirely, I'm not digging up the quotes but it seems a little over the top to me to say all that and then "inform" the team of your plans to leave.

Gotta think they can get a trade to a contender. Hell, 1 future first is better than nothing.

Considering its PG- honestly might as well keep him for 1st half of the season and see if he changes his mind. Guy seems to change his mind by the day and have random outburst constantly throughout a season (positive and negative)

Edit: though I guess do u really wanna build your franchise around a guy like that? Idk. But he is damn good.

If all we're being offered is a garbage package from LA I'm still inclined to ride this out. Lets see how bad these Lakers are this season.

Even if you were/are of the opinion that he is staying, I can't possibly imagine anyone is actually blindsided by this.

Trade him to a contender for a year? Who qualifies? Cleveland, Clippers, Washington, Boston, Trailblazers???
Just trade him to LA this year ?

Has a star free agent ever left a playoff team to join an utter bottom feeder? I guess Lebron back to Cleveland but that LA roster doesn't have anyone on Kyrie's level. I'm very underwhelmed with their young talent.

I got the strong feeling from some on here that this was all a fabrication by those that wanted to trade him...or something.

He made it so blatantly obvious in the Kimmel interview that the Lakers were heavily on his mind. Boggled my mind that some couldn't see it when he made it so clear.

I still thought he'd give us a chance to improve this year though.

Probably what Lebron muttered to PG under his shirt after Pacers lost to Cleveland in the playoffs.

You almost have to trade him even if its for nothing but early cap space. Having him on the team this year would be a PR disaster.

I understand his choice to leave but this way we get absolutely **** all in return (in a possible trade). For that, I am bitter towards Paul.
