Danny wants the Lakers and Kings (picks future firsts) from Philly on top of #3. Saves about 1.5 million.. gets best available. Flipping players/picks for Butler. Attempts GH/Blake in FA.
Must be nice to have a good GM ...

Suppose Boston gets that #3 pick. And the 2018 Sixers pick or the 2019 Sixers pick thats from Sacramento. And Boston offers #3, the future Sixers pick and Jaylen Brown for PG. We would be nuts not to take that.
Well yeah, but Ainge wants to screw teams over not give them good value. I could see them offering Zeller, Bradley, and 2018 BKN pick (maybe #3 2017).

More like living in the Danny Ainge Pyramid Scheme. It's exciting but dude loves his assets.

Was this all foreshadowed by not including Fultz in this ad earlier today?

In the proposed deal, Boston would acquire Philadelphia’s No. 3 overall pick in 2017 in a package that includes a future first from the 76ers, sources said. Philadelphia’s 2018 unprotected first-round pick that was acquired from the Lakers has been part of the discussions, sources said.

Just speculating that the Celtics have good feeling they will land a max FA and can possibly package picks/players for a second major player

Ainge is freaking killing it. Boston is already stacked with guards and need a wing. They can get a wing and more now.

Totally fair deal for both sides.

Ainge can keep that pick now and deal Brooklyn and LA's 2018 picks for immediate help.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

That'd be nice for us in the Hayward sweepstakes because it'd take Celtics free agency attention all towards Blake (shrug). Though if Celtics land Jimmy and Blake that'd be insane.

The problem is, Paul and Jimmy are the two players they want. I would never give my best player to a team within my conference unless I were far, FAR away from competing. Now I imagine they could get Porzingis or Melo with some of those assets. But I think the Bulls and Pacers view themselves as close enough to not trade their best players.

I don't think Danny would prefer a free Hayward over a rental George.

I think this just reflects Ainge not being sold on Fultz, hence why Fultz was reported to be working out for other teams.

If instead he's really trying for an asset grab instead of just taking the best player... would be pretty risky, even for Ainge I think. You don't give up on superstar potential, unless you have serious doubts about that potential.

My theory is Boston will go after Blake in free agency and offer some of these assets from the Philly deal to the Raptors for Derozan. Toronto is more at a point of rebuilding than Indy or Chicago. Chicago has to wait until Wade's off the books next Summer to make a free agent splash and put pieces around Jimmy. Indy meanwhile has to add pieces around Paul this Summer and have better cap flexibility and better young pieces.

Toronto gave up some of their future to get Tucker and Ibaka to compete with Cleveland. They failed miserably. Now, Lowry could leave in free agency and the Lowry/Derozan backcourt has reached its full potential. Both players are also getting older. Toronto getting assets for Derozan would help greatly in a rebuild. Unload their highest paid player, and have picks and young players to pair with Cobocolo and Norman Powell.

I have doubts, for sure. I can't think of many winning stars in the NBA that couldn't win at the collegiate level.

Every Philly fan with a brain should riot. Fultz is a good player, but not that good. Ainge is making a living proving that PT Barnum was right.

Hearing this could wind up being a 3-team trade between Philadelphia-Boston-Chicago including Butler, Okafor and lots of picks

Surprised the Bulls are willing to help a team within their own conference become a mini super-team. Weak sauce.

I think they get close and might be able to pass them this time.

Interesting you think that but don't think Hayward would get us even close or in the top 4. But regardless, hope you're right if Pacers can't win the East, would like to see someone in the east take out the Cavs next year.
