Scott Skiles just got a 4 year extension to stay in Chicago, says ESPNEWS.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Well, the title of this thread would seem a tad premature....

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

    Division Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 1989, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
    Conference Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 2005
    NBA Champions 1989, 1990, 2004

No, that's why I said "looks." At the time, it was looking like he wasn't coming back.

maybe skiles playing hardball worked after all...though i cant believe there arent a few unhappy people within bulls management right now....this has all the makings of paxson not being able to get the deal done and reinsdorf having to step in and fix things before things got way out of control

I bet Jay is happy that his team is getting their coach back.

Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

That was unfair and uncalled for....

Jay's team is whatever team Chuck person is on. Everybody knows that.

I'd believe it was more along the lines of Rheinsdorf told Paxton one thing and then when Skiles' agent broke off negotiations the owner decided to give in.

the thing i find interesting about the whole process is this....from the beginning reinsdorf is on record as saying he doesnt use coaches agents to do deals...refuses to...so there appeared to be a pissing contest going on here...

because they were unable to reach a deal for a while, at which point skiles insisted his long time agent 'whos like family' be involved in the process...it wasnt long after that things appeared to take a major turn for the worse.-could it be jerry was bound and determined that there would be no deal offered that would be acceptable as long as there was an agent involved..this continued to the point of the agent saying and skiles somewhat verifying that there would be no deal....

only after scott calls reinsdorf-notice no agent, just scott and jerry-do they get a deal done-and evidently they get this deal very quickly once its just scott and jerry on the phone...

so it appears jerry was gonna make it quite clear that agents are a hindrance in the process....because scott got the better deal after he called jerry on his own....jerry and his ego or stubborness, whichever u like, wanting to make sure he sets a precedent for the next time he has to negotiate with a coach...and make sure he means what he says..

he can simply point to this situation...its his team...i guess he has the right....and in a way...both scott and jerry were playing hardball...and i think pax got caught in the middle....

a major league pi$$ing contest as far as im concerned...
