Thread: One player = Pacers championship

Default One player = Pacers championship

Just playing around here but if you could pick one player from another team that would give the Pacers the best chance for a championship this year who would it be?

    The rules of the game:

    1. The player that you choose would replace the Pacer's starter at the chosen player's position. In other words if you picked a SG then Reggie would not be on the Pacers roster.
    2. Shaq and Yao are on the protected list
    3. Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett are considered PFs for this game.
    4. Salary cap is not applicable to the transaction.

I would pick Jason Kidd to replace Tinsley. It gives us a player that can penetrate at will and a lock-down defender on the opposition's PG. This would help our big guys out on defense by not having to leave their player and help - keep us out of foul trouble and improve our defensive rebounding. On offense, can you say Reggie for 3 or having the ability to get an entry pass in the post w/ ease.

Initially, I would have picked Stojakovic but I couldn't bear the thought of winning a championship w/o Reggie.

I figure most people would go for PG or C but I'm curious to see what other people think we need the most and what other players can provide it.

I figured it would take 2 or 3 posts before someone said that. I should have known w/ all of the Brad discussion going on.

I don't know if I'd do that but I would go with Dampier to replace Foster.

Stojakovic is a forward. Doug Christie is their SG. I'd go with Damps or Brad Miller

I'm glad I picked Kidd then.

Seriously, thanks for heads up. I knew that but I always picture him as a natural 2 when I see Sacramento play. They list him at 6'10" on nba.com. If he's 6'10" then JO must be 7'4".

*edit* Just realized you said no to the two "big centers".

    Reggie with Ray Allen

Kobe for Reggie or Kidd for Tinsley.

I was thinking the same, but I didn't want to lose Reggie from the roster altogether - I wanted him to be sixth man so I would've posted Allen for Miller for Harrington but I wasn't sure that was within "the rules" of the thread. Then I decided I wanted Dampier more than Allen anyway.

    Man, tough call.

There are no monster upgrades over JO or Ronnie, so they stay.

We'd have to look at Foster, Reggie, and Tinsley.

The best replacement for Foster would be *shudder* Brad Miller. ed:

    For Tinsley, Kidd. It's a no-brainer.

For Reggie, it's a bit tougher. I'd look mostly at TMac, Ray Allen, or (as much as I despise him) Kobe.

    C - Miller
    PF - JO
    SF - Artest
    SG - Reggie
    PG - Tinsley

    C - Foster
    PF - JO
    SF - Artest
    SG - Reggie
    PG - Kidd

    C - Foster
    PF - JO
    SF - Artest
    SG - Kobe/TMac/Allen
    PG - Tinsley

    Pick one.

in all honesty I think it would have to be Kobe for Reggie, but I would be pissed about it. This title wont be just for reggie, but dang he sure deserves it the most.

Other possiblilities I thought of, Stephon or Kidd for Tins. Ben Wallace for Foster? though Jeff is pertineer as effective. Maybe have Lebron be the PG hehe. though the boy sure does have alot of TOs. I love Tinsleys game though, and eventually people will be talking about him like JKidd, he aint there yet tho.

This is all just fantasy bball talk, and really I like the team the way it is, when talking about adding someone new to the starting lineup you have to take into consideration the time it takes to learn the nuances of your teamates the way they play O and D etc.. team chemistry, it takes a while to happen, and the pacer players have all played together a Long time, at least 3 years cept for some bench players. That understanding that comes with time spent together is worth at least half of what talent is in any trade.

I will try a different approach

    Bruce Bowen for Reggie.

Just expanding on the win with D game plan.

Imagine Bruce and Ron working the D side by side.
On O Bruce is a good 3 point shooter so he will still help spread the floor.
