Someone posted this in another thread. I personally don't read a whole lot into it, I assume things will heat up once the Finals end and the draft rolls around, but if you are in the keep PG crowd, this can't be a bad thing.

Could be something, or could be nothing.

I've never put any stock in Eric Pincus.

They likely won't start until the week of (or slightly before) the draft, imo. I fully expect them to listen to offers, and hope they would even if to just do their due diligence. You can't have a KD situation where you don't even consider it, certainly considering Paul George's openness when it comes to his interest in other teams.

I look for the rumors to start in about 2 weeks and then really heat up on June 26.

Personally, I would be surprised if the Pacers traded Paul on draft night. I think they will wait and see what they can do in Free Agency and via trades and then decide what to do with Paul. I think they are convinced that if they can get him some help and get back to the ECF that he will stay. That is just my opinion and not that of staff or management.

This news + PG taking a photo in a Pacers hat & also working out in a Pacers shirt @ Banksrs Life.....5-year extension is done. Locked up long term. Expect details to be leaked in next few days.

You must be very disappointed, given your viewpoint on trading him now for maximum value. If he does sign (and we don't trade him), what would you like to see KP do for next year? For three years from now?

Takes like this are funny. The title of the thread is "a small glimmer of hope." Nobody is saying PG is gonna stay based on what hat he is wearing. But you and others are saying PG is leaving based off rumors. When even those rumors have the caveat of "if Indy isn't a contender."

IDK if PG is staying or leaving, but if someone is hoping PG wants to stay, him being active in the city and the organization aren't bad things. Him being close with Catchings and the by virtue the front office isn't a bad thing. The Pacers not actively shopping or taking offers means that for now at least they see PG open to staying.

None of that means anything long term, it just means that the ship hasn't sailed.

I want to see him resign, just not for the super max. But that's unlikely. Should have traded him at the deadline, which I'm sure 90% of PD is now on board with. But that train left the station at that 3pm deadline. If he isn't going to resign this summer then you trade him for the best offer. It's just too damn risky to take it to summer 18 where he's going to be wined & dined & told exactly what he wants to hear + given the opportunity to actually win. Paul likes to be liked....I don't like our chances if he meets with a team with 1-3 other All-Stars all praising him + celebs that might make an appearance with a better future in a "better" city than here with Thad Young, Myles Turner & Joe Young at the meeting & no real chance at winning a title.

Well one thing is for sure, Paul is either staying or he is leaving. It there a third option?. I have come to the point that whatever happens I am still a Pacer fan and will root for the players that are here.

Meh, most will have a good idea what's gonna happen if PG isn't already traded.

It actually wouldn't be hilarious. It would be catastrophic
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

I'll laugh if he re-signs and all the doomsday chicken littles are wrong. THAT would be hilarious.

My money this whole time has been on the "no one knows but PG and the front office" side. I remain unphased by the rumors because I believe that PG is a clear step below guys like LeBron and Durant, so I don't buy the thinking that the Pacers will never get another player like him. And, in my opinion, if this franchise can survive the brawl and everything that surrounded that, we'll survive an occasional third-team all-NBA player leaving.

I'm perfectly comfortable playing with fire here. Either we make moves to get us into ECF contention or PG walks and we move on. I like the guy, but he ain't Jordan. Unless the info from Lowe, Windhorst, and Shelburne is all smokescreen, the front office must feel pretty confident about adding talent to keep PG. That confidence might only be worth a fart in the wind, but I'm looking forward to watching the summer unfold.

Why? If he proves us wrong and re-signs, do you think we're going to be upset about it? **** that would be great news. I would be delighted to say I was wrong in that case.

Pritchard doesn't seem to be a guy who would wait on PG to walk. Hopefully this means he has a plan and he and PG are communicating.

Just the certainty with which everyone talks about him leaving, and the outrageous ideas about the fallout if he does. It's not personal in any way. I've been wrong many times and people laugh about it, it's just what it is - especially on the internet. But it'll undoubtedly make me chuckle if he re-signs and some of the Nostradamuses we have around here have to flip the script. I don't expect anyone to be upset if he does stay, and I'm not certain of anything either way, so it won't be an "I told you so!" laugh. Just a funny turn of events given the widely held belief that he's already signed with the Lakers.

Bird was stubborn to a fault. If he were still in charge I would be worried. But IMO Pritch is the type of GM that would not risk losing PG for nothing unless he was pretty damn sure he could keep him.
