    Innocent mistake my ***.

Karl got off light. He could have had his 1st round pick taken from him.

Uh, they said on ESPN Radio that there was one underclassman, Deron Williams from Illinois, who had already declared for the draft. The league says that, even so, they hadn't put out their final list of underclassmen who were draft eligible, so Karl's still in trouble.

That's bull****. If I were Kronke, et al, I'd tell Stern to go **** himself.

[edit]But then, if I were me, I'd tell Stern to go **** himself.

the violation occurred on may 16-18, and the nba released their official early entry list on may 19. sheesh! talk about hair splitting technicalities.

while i guess that karl should technically get some form of punishment, does anyone think it makes any difference? it's not as if the early entry candidates were secret; those players or their agents have all been busy blabbing at the press weeks beforehand.

Sort of irrelevant anyway - who cares? As long as a coach doesn't actually try to talk them into leaving school early.

There's this thing called videotape anyway. If a coach wants to see workouts, he'll see workouts.

Karl technically violated the rules and got nailed. Whether it was intentional or not is irrelevant. Denver will just have to take the fine and roll with it, which it looks like they're doing. Yes, it's splitting hairs, but we all know Stern and co. are colossal jackasses, so why give them a reason to go on a power trip?
