Bender needs to be way above Tractor Traylor. I understand he was traded for Dirk, but at least he is useful.

Well, Bender never really made it as a top 10 player, but at least he is top 10 something... maybe that will raise his trade value.

As bad as the Darko draft looks right now it is way too early to call him a top 10 bust.

I don't think Benders had enough time yet to be labeled a bust. #1 He's only 24, #2 He showed enough in practice to get a nice contract playing behind solid players. #3 Well... ok he's a bust ... but a bust with potential. At 30 if he's not getting 10ppg I will call him a complete bust........ :-)

No picks from '95? That's insane. Sure, you can give Respert a pass since it recently came out he had cancer, but what about Ed O'Bannon or Joe Smith? This guy didn't do his homework.

Potential to be an even bigger bust if the franchise doesn't end this farce soon and move the h#ll on.

Trade him or cut him but for the love of God send a signal to some of our lily softs on the team and let them know that we won't be coddling anyone any longer.

Darko is only in his second year...Bender is like in his 6th year...Bender got screwed on that list! Stern probably put him up to it. Seriously...where is Big Country Bryant Reeves? Isiah "Baby Jordan" Ryder...Shawn Bradley...Penny Hardaway...I could go on forever with that one draft with those 3 in it...that entire draft was one big bust.

The incredibly huge difference being that Bender could YET emerge as a very good player.
Darko is the only other one with that potential.

Bender lost what little trade value he had this year. I think he could've been moved last summer as part of a package where they other team would think that maybe this guy could turn into something if he was given playing time. He was bordering on being tagged 'injury prone' before last summer and now he's got that tag hung on him. Injury prone player who's never lived up to his draft position or current contract. Not going to get much in return for that except for someone with a similar rep. or someone's problem player who happens to have a moderate salary. Walsh's track record in the draft is only thing that could give someone hope that maybe, just maybe there's a useful player inside there.

How many years left on his deal? Will Bender become the new Croshere around here (big contract whipping boy)? Could he at least pass out towels or gatorade to the guys during timeouts?

    How so?

Anthony and Wade are superstars already.

Bosh is an extremely solid player.

As of now, it's a top 10 bust. He was drafted second and has shown nothing. It is just as valid to call him a bust as it is Bender. As of now, both have been worthless given where they were picked in the draft.

I agree with Ragnar. It's a big stretch to claim that Darko is the biggest lottery bust of all time. What about Shawn Bradley, Scott Haskin, Eric Montross, Ed O'Bannon, Derrick Coleman, etc? Darko isn't 21 yet. Would Bender have been on this list after his first two years? Probably not. Even if Darko was a great player, I'm not confident that Larry Brown would have played him that much. Brown has always been the coach to keep players on the bench who won't play his way or who are too young to fit in. He did it to Jalen Rose back in the 90s, and did it to LeBron, Carmelo, and Wade in the 2004 Olympics.

I thought the Pistons were stupid at the time for not taking Carmelo Anthony--- I never though Wade would be this great--- but I also do not think that either Anthony or Wade would have had near the rookie seasons they had last year. When the Pistons took Darko, they knew it was a very long-term project. Even though I always think you take the best guy on the board, they were confident with their team and wanted to take a risk. It's not like Darko is hurt physically... what will Yahoo! do if Darko makes a legitimate turnaround?

I know nothing about Darko other than what I read about him before the draft and the little I have seen him play the past two years, but I can't imagine anyone being able to confidentally state that he's a guaranteed bust... or even a 90% bust like our boy Bender. Darko doesn't have the injury problems like Bender, nor is it visible that he lacks signficant confidences like Bender does when he's on the court.

I always knew Bender would make something of himself. He should have been higher on the list i think. He still holds the McDonalds All American game scoring record and he never has made ANYTHING of himself.

The jusry is still out on Darko. He is just on a very very good team which is/was in the middle of championship runs.
