Are the Pacers the 2nd best team in the East? /green

Pacers at least kept all these games pretty close and had the one 1/2 meltdown that they blew game 3.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

Such a fun, entertaining regular season and the playoffs have just sucked.
LeBron's normally resting, so yes it's fun to watch fake games. Now reality is setting in. The fact is, the Cavs could have won10 or 15 more games during the regular season if it was real. Now it's winning time, so you see this.
Lance is finally home. Whether he becomes our starting PG or he's 6th man, he's getting big minutes and he's here to stay. #llortontnia

With Lance? Probably. The issue is that we aren't that good, but the rest of the east is terrible. Most of the talent is centralized in Cleveland. Imagine having guys like Love and Korver shooting 3's for you are at least being a threat with the GOAT dishing out assists. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. That's what happens when players are choosing where they want to play without the teams losing them, getting anything in return. So, no surprises really. Zzzz.

Either way, the Celtics could use a playoffs Paul George.
Every team in the league could use Paul George. The asking price is what's going to cause 95% of them to lose interest.

I don't know what it is, but they're starting to make the "They're vulnerable." talk seem like foolish talk.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

Indiana only need to care about two teams to get something out of Paul George...Boston and LA.

Boston is likely going to be in the 95%.

This is sort of the reality when you wait until the last season to trade a star player.

If they wanted to get fans excited about his trade value the time to deal him was last summer not this summer.

This is just sad. The NBA Conference Finals used to be such great entertainment.

Gotta love Lebron's "shut up you idiot, don't get in trouble against a team we're going to sweep" scolding of Thompson.

Lebron just has complete command of any team he's on.

I don't think it's quite as grim as you are making it out, but we definitely aren't in a position of strength here.

Only a handful of players in league history have completely owned their team like Lebron. Every player gets in line and knows what the boss demands.

The interesting thing about this game...I can't really see what the Celtics are necessary doing wrong.

Yeah, the Pacers fan base would have been head over heels in excitement had we traded PG the summer after an impressive comeback season after a wicked injury in which the team put up a respectable fight against Toronto and looked like they had a bit of potential. I can't imagine the demand for season tix had we done that.

When you worry too much about what the fans want (and the fans always want immediate satisfaction), you generally do not make good decisions.

Case in point: the team Boston fleeced for all those draft picks.

Good business decisions are not always the popular ones. If the Pacers re-sign him then that's great. But if they trade him? Should have entertained that idea a year ago.

Celtics fans are delirious over an 18pt deficit heading into the 4th! Good lord! There actually maybe something to the idea that Indiana fans just understand basketball better than everywhere else

The predictions thread was an interesting read after the season was over, lol.

I think in retrospect, it's realistic that we get to a point where we wish we would have dealt him at the deadline. But dealing him a year ago after his impressive injury comeback season (before the Laker whispers) would have been nuts.
