I've been watching Boston in these playoffs. If I'm Boston, and the Pacers call, I'm saying "No thanks. I like my team as it is." They've got a good thing going, and they are going to get even better with time.
Totally disagree. I think if they are this close, the time to strike is now. They aren't a threat to Cleveland with that team they have now. Add PG or Jimmy Butler to the mix and I think they are right there.

Yeah I'll have to disagree as well. I've been watching Boston too and from what I've seen they are far less of a threat to Lebron and his teams than the Pacers were when Lebron was at Miami by quite a long shot IMO. Good chance Celtics don't get out of the first round if Rondo doesn't go down. That said- Bostons future is bright regardless. Would be hard to mess up their current situation for long term.

When is the last day PG can sign an extension this summer? I think if we do win the Hayward derby or get a big name like that he's probably sign this summer.

Sure but if he couldn't do it in I don't know how long ever there he ain't doing it here in just one year and with PG scaring players away because they don't wtf he wants to do.
    Lol, What??

KP's Portland teams had a couple of 50 win seasons while being one of the youngest teams in the league. He put together a hell of a team that fell apart due to injuries. He has learned his lesson and now knows to buy into the medical guys' opinions.

KP built some solid teams in POR. Mainly through the draft (Roy, LMA, Oden, Jack, Batum). The issue there was mainly injuries and coaching

    Oh wait...

If PG does not sign an extension this offseason then you deal him. When you've got valuable assets on the table in an offer for a guy who will not commit to you, you take that deal & keep building.
    :
    :
    Trade PG
For 2 2nd round picks and a 3-year $40M roleplayer whose contract is more than he's worth? Or for a 7-10 pick and a similarly crap contract?

You guys don't want to play basketball, you wanna play "draft".

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...

Why do we always do stuff like this? We're all Pacers fans, we all ultimately want the team to win an NBA title. Some people just have very different views on how they think we should do it. Different views ≠ wrong views.

I suppose the question is, what is Paul george worth to the pacers 12 months from now?

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

This is your problem. All makes sense now. This is what you think the Pacers will get in return. Hell if I thought that I'd probably be wanting him back too.

    BillS:

    PG
    For
    2 2nd round picks & a bench player.

Yea I'm with you now, keep PG even if he doesn't resign & risk him walking for nothing, which is likely.

Coaching? How can it be both injuries AND coaching?

I'm no big Nate fan but blaming him for his best player going down is stupid.

It was a somewhat tongue on cheek comment but Roy wasn't always injured either.

Edit: im not much of a Nate hater. He's an average to below average head coach. No more, no less

It's a shame really. He believes we're jumping the gun for wanting to trade him this offseason, but he's the one undervaluing the "star" when it comes getting assets back for him.

At minimum, someone was going to come off some first round draft pick(s) and 2-3 solid players.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

Try and sign Hayward. If that fails then I guess trade PG. But really don't want to see him traded

The only playoff series he wasn't injured was his very first playoff series. So yea, he was pretty much always injured.

Meh, I just don't think that train of thought goes very deep with these modern players: 2010 Lebron, Howard, Bosh, CP3, Durant, and Melo all left their original team.

These guys aren't like Reggie, David Robinson, Malone, or Stockton......or Dirk, Duncan, Pierce (Celt for all of his relevant years) and Kobe.

If Durant didn't care about the perception that he was piggybacking off of a team that had already won a title, then I certainly don't think PG would mind being considered one of many great Lakers. Just like what Shaq did in 96, or how people continue to sign with the Yankees even though they won't be the "greatest Yankee ever".
Oh please a player is as loyal to a team as the team is to them more so really since a player can dump you at any time and get the fans to agree rather than vice versa.

It worked out that Duncan spent his entire career with the Spurs he went to the playoffs every year and won 5 titles who would leave that?

    Kobe? Same thing

Dirk? Went through more ups and downs but still stuck it out.

It worked out for them to spend their entire careers with the team and the team still wanted them.

Usually it doesn't work like that it ends up like:

Paul Pierce spent most of his career as a Celtic but they didn't want him anymore despite being the franchise player for years and carrying the Celtics as long as he did.

    Wade/Heat etc.

Malone even left to go to the Lakers at the end.

There's no real loyalty in professional sports and its ridiculous to hold players to these standards when teams and fans don't do it themselves.

I don't know much about BillS, but besides the Pacers roster & a few household NBA names, I'm gonna guess he's got no clue.

Pacers trade PG, Joe Young, Niang, Monta & Serpahin to LA for Ball or Fox, Ingram, Randle, Nance, Mbawa, Zubac.

*BillS* - WHAT? Awful trade!! We traded our precious PG for those scrubs??!! And we gave up a high ceiling players /young assets in Joe & Niang? Monta too?? He was so great!! I'm canceling my season tickets!! Hm!

Do I think Paul will leave the Pacers? Yes

Is he still a Pacer? Yes

Will I still support him as long as he's still a Pacer before I say he's "Dead to Me?" Yes.

We don't know what the future holds here and we can guess as to what he will do but its safe to say he might not be sure himself and is being open to all possibilities because he can be.

If I'm Lakers, I trade the pick to get rid of Deng and Mozgov. Sign 2 max guys next summer, PG and Westbrook?

Some of you really love attaching draft picks to get rid of bad contracts. I think that would be patently absurd, but if the Lakers want to do that, go crazy Showtime.

Woj apparently discussed this on podcast today.

If you're the Lakers and it helps you get Westbrook and PG, you do it. You already have Ingram, Russel, Clarkson and Randke! How would this move be absurd??
