Although my grandfather and Great Uncle Jack will not approve of me saying this:
Sometimes unions are too stupid for thier own good:
"It goes without saying that it's a violation of the collective bargaining agreement for any team personnel to have any role whatsoever in drug testing that falls outside of the collective bargaining agreement," union spokesman Dan Wasserman said in a statement on Monday.
Wasserman also said the union doesn't think it's a good idea for players to engage in "publicity driven freelance drug testing."
I'm referring more to the second sentence above: It sounds like the union thinks they've got a lot to hide from the public on this topic.
Kudo's to Damon for not hiding after his "I've got nothing to hide." statements.
I don't know what to think about Mo Cheeks involvement, its impossible for him to separate himself from "Mo Cheeks the coach" in this situation so it definetely would have been better to have another volunteer hold the door open - perhaps Damon's agent. I'm still not sure what Mo did was "wrong" per se, but that is the only ammunition the union has in order for them to say what they're really thinking, Thanks, Damon, now its just every other player in the league that will be under suspicion of exercising their union-negotiated 'right' to use marijuana.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
