Can you believe how strong Reggie is to knock down Hunter like that?

GAME OVER! Pistons throw it away.
How do you figure that? Pacers really should have never let the Pistons in the game.

    RAWR F-YA!

oh man this win was sweet, even though they blew a 18pt lead.

On the other hand, I hope they can find that defensive mindstate they had through 3quarters

    Yes! 2-1 baby!

Talk about a nerve racking fourth quarter. Jeez, I was having a Celtic flashback. Thank GOD we were able to hold on and close out this game.

    Here we come Game 4!

2-1 BABY! The Pacers still have the Celtics series on their minds, they won't blow this opprotunity.

    • Indiana 79, Detroit 74

By MICHAEL MAROT, AP Sports Writer

      AP - May 13, 8:47 pm EDT

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Despite an 0-for-7 performance from 3-point range, Reggie Miller looked right at home in the final minutes at Conseco Fieldhouse on Friday night.

With fans chanting his name, Miller sank four free throws and made a key jumper in the final 81 seconds to lead the Pacers past Detroit 79-74 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Friday night.

Miller finished with 17 points to lead the Pacers, who rallied after blowing a 13-point fourth-quarter lead. Jamaal Tinsley added 16 points and Jeff Foster had 12 rebounds.

The Pacers now lead the best-of-seven series 2-1. Game 4 is Sunday at Indianapolis.

Detroit, which was led by Chauncey Billups with 23 points, never challenged until late. The Pacers neutralized defensive player of the year Ben Wallace inside and took advantage of a still hobbling Richard Hamilton to beat the defending NBA champs for a second straight time.

Perhaps most important for the Pacers was that they actually played well in their own building, where they had lost four their last five postseason games -- including two straight to Detroit in last year's Eastern Conference finals.

Indiana didn't look like the same team that had those problems.

After spending more than a week on the road with trips to Boston and Detroit, the Pacers shot 36.1 percent from the field. Detroit had just a 42-40 rebounding advantage and limited Wallace, who controlled Game 1, to seven points and 14 rebounds.

It changed the dynamic of a series in which the road team had won five of six meetings this season.

Coach Larry Brown used only seven players, and Hamilton, Detroit's leading scorer, had a miserable start. He was 1-of-7 from the field with three turnovers in the first quarter and finished with 16 points before fouling out with 1:21 left.

Although the Pistons trailed by double digits for most of the second and third quarters, Detroit's late push made it interesting.

Trailing 58-45 after three quarters, the Pistons quickly closed to 61-51 early in the fourth. When Indiana rebuilt its lead to 67-55, Detroit countered with back-to-back three-point plays from Hamilton and Billups.

Detroit then used a 9-2 run to charge back, finally taking the lead at 72-71 with 2:09 left when Billups made two free throws.

But after Rasheed Wallace missed a 3-pointer from the left wing, Miller drew the sixth foul on Hamilton and hit two free throws to put the Pacers back in front. Rasheed Wallace then missed another 3, and Miller grabbed the rebound and drew a foul. He made two more free throws to give Indiana a 75-72 lead, then hit a 21-footer over Lindsey Hunter with 10.7 seconds left to seal the victory.

It looked like it would be easy for most of the game. Indiana broke it open with an 8-0 run early in the second quarter, extending a 17-13 lead to 25-13 with 7:43 to go.

Detroit got within 25-17, but Indiana responded with an 11-6 run to take a 38-23 lead.

      Notes

Foster recorded double-digits in rebounds for the fourth straight game. ... It was the Pacers' first home win over the Pistons this season. ... After scoring 21 points in Game 1, Ben Wallace has a total of 10 points in the last two games. ... The Pistons were just 3-of-16 from 3-point range.
