The biggest issue for me with the Idea of Mello (which I am in favor of) would be floor spacing. We would also still need to address shooting.

I'm not confident it would work at all, and I'd greatly prefer not to find out.

yeah. I think Melo and PG could coexist fine, maybe even pretty well. it's everything else on the roster that makes it a nonstarter w/o them just wanting to give him away.

I would hope PG has the common sense to understand that Anthony isn't what the team needs.

    Bird too ...........
I'm only for it if he can be had for Al Jeff and Monta. Maybe Thad instead of Monta. It'd have to be cap relief for the Knicks. No way would I include a pick unless it's heavily protected.

I agree, I wouldn't want to see this if it meant we had to give up something of value. Cap relief is about all I would be willing to trade.

just to entertain it for the sake of it, one of the positives of Melo's NTC is that it's a two way street. yeah, Melo probably doesn't wanna come to Indiana. but say he gets sold on the location, he also isn't coming to Indiana if it means gutting the team for him. if Teague were to be part of the deal for example I think Melo'd say screw that.

A deal that costs us Teague (or Turner) for Melo is not happening. NY won't get near fair-value for Melo. They're basically in the position of having to take back bad contracts and future second-round picks just to be able to move on. Honestly, if we get involved, Monta and AlJeff makes a lot of sense because of the clause in Monta's contract allowing him to be cut, and AlJeff's deal being partially guaranteed.

The fit with Teague and Turner here is cause for concern. Melo and PG would have big adjustments to make, and we'd need an all-world post defender to compensate for everyone not named Paul George. Given that Boston earned the #1 seed and they're getting embarrassed, I'd say the East is obviously Cleveland, followed by virtually nothing, meaning this could conceivably result in an ECF appearance if they actually could co-exist, simply because the offense would be elite. Of course, if I'm Danny Ainge, watching my team get embarrassed, knowing Melo can be had cheap, I think I'd be very interested.
It's a new day for Pacers Basketball.

Let's not forget how he reacted after Miles missed. I didn't notice it before until Barkley brought it up.

BTW, Shaq was an ******* in that segment. Barkley was a Superstar in his prime, and I thought his opinion mattered too. Shaq needs to stop acting like he got his rings while Jordan was still dominating the league.

Far be it for me to defend Shaq since I can't stand his *** but at least he beat Jordan in the playoffs Barkley couldn't do that.

That being said in a lot of ways Shaq played below his abilities. If he had the work ethic of Kobe or Jordan or even Kareem who knows how much better he could've been.

Help me understand what your are saying. I thought the Pacers needed 3 point shooting? Plus Melo can post up when he wants to.

I'd take Horford's contract. IF Ainge is willing to pony up the Brooklyn pick with it.

I don't think Carmelo would "lower" himself to playing in Indiana.

That's not my opinion, that's just what I've gleaned from his attitude towards living high society over his career. He saw himself as too good for Denver. I doubt he'd accept Indianapolis. Chicago, LA etc. are his style.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

PG may go to the Lakers, but it is not to "be the man."

Someone pointed out a while back that if PG wins a title with the Lakers, he will just be another in the line of great players that won titles. Like Wilt, Shaq, Kobe, Kareem and Magic. If he makes the Finals with the Pacers he will be a legend like Reggie...if he wins a title he will surpass Mel, George and Roger and will probably be considered the greatest Pacer ever.

Every top free agent seems to be rumored to be going to the Lakers.
Tell me this, when was the last time a top 5 or even top 10 free agent went to the Lakers in free agency?
They've made some trades but the allure of going to L.A. is overblown.
I don't think that Paul is leaving but if he does he'll go to the team that can offer him the money and the best chance at a title which is not L.A.
Larry Bird qouted March 25th. 2015:

Bird: I wanted to keep our group together because in the summer, if David and Roy opt out, we're back to zero, really. We don't have that much, so you leave your options open. If we did make a trade, I didn't want to take on a lot of contracts -- because that's what usually happens. Plus, I liked my guys. They're playing well. If we keep the core together and Paul comes back healthy, we'll be right back to where we were.

Ask Joe Blow off the street and I bet the majority know who those Lakers are. You'd be lucky to get a quarter that know Reggie.

Well if the rumors are true, it would seem that he and Paul have something else in common then.
