    Default Trade Myles Turner

I know I was high on Turner during his Rookie year, and I have no problem admitting I was wrong. Even though Myles can shoot and rim protect, he cannot rebound. Your starting center has to be able to rebound, and this should be his focus. Instead, Myles cares more about scoring points than rebounding, and it's a problem. I have no problem with Centers scoring points off offensive rebounds, and easy put backs, but Myles camps around for mid-range jump shots. Just my opinion, but it seems silly to have a center better at shooting than rebounding. In 36 minutes tonight Myles grabbed only 5 rebounds, which is unacceptable for a starting center. Myles is basically Roy Hibbert with a better jump shot.

Indiana will never be contenders with a starting center this weak at rebounding. Maybe you can pair him up with a glass eating PF to grab all the rebounds, but this seems like putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound. Eventually, you are going to pay the price having a center weak at rebounding, like what we saw tonight. Trade Myles while he still has the hype and intrigue as the modern "Stretch 5". Get a big that can rebound. We can get scoring from other positions besides center

He needs to add muscle. Also he's playing with a jammed finger. Hence his ring and middle being taped together. But more than that, we don't run enough plays for him.

I think you should back at some old paul george threads from the beginning of 2012-2013 before he turned the corner. We wanted to trade him too.

I would trade Turner to the Knicks for Carmelo and HermanGomez. They wouldnt be able to defend PG like that with Melo on the floor.

Turner was fine when he had a legit center next to him (Mahinmi), but you're playing him with a small 4 and expecting him to crash the glass and anchor the interior like a young Dwight Howard, but he simply doesn't have the body to do that and maybe even the type of game to be that ever....

I'm just ****ing glad I don't have knee jerk reactions like over half of this board. You do not trade Myles. He's still 5 years away from his prime.

I'm not sure we can't get Melo without giving up Turner at this point.

Dumb thread. Myles may well be our franchise player if Paul walks.

This is beyond a stupid idea, main thing is he's on a cheap contract for the next 3-4 years. From all accounts he has a crazy work ethic and desire to get better and I believe he will get better.

I know Thad scored a few points, but he had 0 defensive rebounds.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

I think if you gave Myles a demanding coach to really ride him about rebounding, he could improve. If Bob Knight was his coach, he would be rebounding his tail off. Seems like Turner has been mismanaged around here. Bird's ego got in the way, and thought Myles was the second coming of Patrick Ewing just because of his shooting skills. Didn't accomplish anything, and Bird overhyped him as if he is already all-star.

How ****ing stupid can you be? I mean, sorry, but how is this real? He's only had a bad series...wait, no, two games actually. He's a second year, 21 year old, big man. There's no way this is serious. I think we should ban new threads other than post games for about an hour after games.

We simply need to pair Turner with an athletic front court player who is big enough to defend the paint and has an enforcer mentality. If we use Turner as our stretch front court player and let him focus on offense he'll be fine.
However he shouldn't be untouchable, if we could package Turner for an all star that's able to contribute now we'd be fools not to pull the trigger.

Larry Bird qouted March 25th. 2015:

Bird: I wanted to keep our group together because in the summer, if David and Roy opt out, we're back to zero, really. We don't have that much, so you leave your options open. If we did make a trade, I didn't want to take on a lot of contracts -- because that's what usually happens. Plus, I liked my guys. They're playing well. If we keep the core together and Paul comes back healthy, we'll be right back to where we were.

It's only his 2nd year and last year he played very well. Take it easy.

I wouldn't trade him unless you get a great deal for him. That said, while I think he'll be a good player. I don't think he'll ever be a great player. Borderline all-star fairly frequently. Nothing to sneeze at, but then again, that's basically what Teague is.

Myles will get better, but like Smits, he should have a strong rebounder/post defender beside him.
I count ourselves lucky to have him, and would require a great deal to move him.

Don't trade him. Unless you can get a player that will make Paul sign a big contract.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

I'm all for complaining and I'm all for keeping open threads. However I am going to exercise some discretion here and say that we don't need this after only two playoff games. Once the season is over if you want to readdress this then go for it. You can post this all you want in the post game threads up until then. BTW this really has nothing to do with me wanting to protect Myles because bluntly his play during this game had me working the trade machine as well. This has to do with knee jerk reaction threads after every playoff loss.
