Default Sister of Celtics' Isiah Thomas killed in car crash

The sister of Isaiah Thomas was killed Saturday morning in a one-car accident outside Seattle.

Chyna J. Thomas was 22 years old.

The car accident occurred around 5 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near South 288th Street in Federal Way, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Witnesses reported that the car, a 1998 Toyota Camry, was being driven normally at first.

“All of a sudden it started to drift very casually onto the left shoulder,” State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nick King said.

The car traveled about 50 feet partially off the roadway until it hit a Jersey barrier.

“That vaulted the vehicle head-on into the sign post,” King said.

    Horrible news.

Always wear your seatbelt, folks. It takes literally 2 seconds.

That's horrible. Not that it matters, but that is not good for the Cs playoff picture.

Also helps to have a car that's not made of terrible material. Many of today's cars are not very sturdy. A slightly beyond minor collision could flatten most of them.

With all the regulations and advances in engineering, today's cars are far safer than those of 30-40 years ago. Sometimes, the impact is more than all that can handle.

Too bad that things like this happen, but as previously stated - give the seat belt a chance to do its job.

Absolutely. Not knocking seat belts. Airbags I also think are important.

In this case hitting a pole the seat-belt was her only chance. Man I have to admit I do not wear mine anywhere near as much as I should but I put that sucker on this morning.

Sadly that type of habit is not uncommon for someone your age. But a 22 year old would have been brought up in a completely different era in terms what is normal when in a car. I'm in my mid-thirty's and driving with out the seat belt feels almost foreign and uncomfortable. But I know alot of people older than me who just don't like wearing it.

My dad just started wearing one just in the last 10 years after getting a ticket. For the longest time in Indiana seat belts were only required for half ton trucks and below. He always had a 3/4 ton.
