Is Lance even eligible for the playoffs? Players had to be cut by March 1 to be eligible for the playoffs if they signed with a different team. Lance was cut by Minny March 18.

Is it different for 10 day contracts?

If he's not eligible this is an even bigger **** show.

Yes. Since he wasn't on a guaranteed deal, he's playoff eligible.

Someone already posted 10 days are different

It's an unusual scenario to sign someone to a multi-year contract this late in the season.
Does anyone happen to know when the last time something like this happened?

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

Here's my post from the Rodney thread

A player is eligible for the playoffs as long as they weren't on a guaranteed contract after the cutoff deadline (March 1st). As far as I know, only Bogut and Stuckey (he still is if someone picks him off waivers) are ineligible. Not sure if anyone else was cut from a roster. Thought Calderon but Hawks picked him off waivers.

So had Lance finished out his 10 days with the wolves and they signed him for the season, he got hurt and they waived him, he'd be ineligible. 10 day contracts aren't guaranteed so they don't count. Any player playing on a fully unguaranteed season contract can be cut at anytime and still be eligible. Any player on a guaranteed contract can be waived at anytime an can still be eligible if picked off waivers (ie Jose Calderon)

Lance is as much of a square peg as Stuckey perhaps with the added bonus of being a better shot creator in 5s where he is the primary ball handler.

    Irrespective of that.

Prodigal Lance! Is the most entertaining possible thing that could have happened.

This calls for a drink and maybe some mescaline. That should get me close to Bird's lunatic mindset.

For the people so upset by this move, if PG pushed for it does it change your mind? Because I don't think there's a chance he didn't have a say.
I don't think anyone is really upset by the move. It's just a shocking, non-Bird like move so late in the season more than anything else. I don't think anyone believes that Lance is somehow going to save this season given his current string of injuries. Heck, trade deadline players need "time" to gel with their teams.

So when is he going to suit up?
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

Fwiw he didn't play well in Min. He did fairly well in NO and obviously had a nice 20 plus games with Memphis
A poster on RealGm who is a Wolves fan said a lot of them are a bit bummed as they all loved him on their team and were hoping they'd resign him now that he is healthier.

He played 67 total minutes with them, really it's hard to judge either way...

He'll back up PG. So second unit is Brooks, CJ, Lance, Allen, Christmas
this lineup actually makes sense. Brooks is a shooter, not a creator. So is CJ. This makes Lance the primary ball handler.

Wonder if the Pacers will give Seraphin some play at center. He gives more low post scoring than Christmas.

Minny was high on him. He's a Thibs type of player. They were about to sign him for the rest of the season before he got hurt. They cut him to get Cassipi I believe.

Nobody is signing someone that's taking them over the top this late into the season, so I'm not sure what you mean by potential upside.

The upside to signing Lance is no different than the upside of signing any of the available FA right now. I mean there's a reason they're FA so late in the season, no?
Yes there is a reason they are free agents this late in the season, but what other free agent played at the level that Lance did all the way up to the conference finals? That's my point. Name another (26 year old) free agent that offers what Lance has already accomplished this late in the season. Stuckey was gone regardless, we were signing someone on that free agent list, regardless.

I really think people just don't like Lance regardless of what he has done.

Has he been great lately? No. But he is still young and has been better than most any other FA option available.

Lance was okay his past couple stops.

This is probably the best chance of a pesky wing defender available.

He also shot the three at 38% last year, 40% with Memphis.

Most likely he won't help much, but who would be better?

Man the only people who don't like Lance are the handful of haters on this board. Casual Pacer fans loved him imo.

Went from five years for 45 million to three years for 12 million a few seasons later, which during that time span included a gigantic salary cap increase. Damn.
