If he could have spaced the floor better he would have been good but we just have too many redundant slashers that can't shoot 3s.

I know people think it's 'redundant' that we signed Lance to replace Stuckey, but if there were good 3&D players out there, they'd already be on a roster. It's hard to find that kind of player post-trade deadline nearing the end of the season.

Very well could be the case.

I just can't see a player or agent agreeing to something like that.
It's still a net win for the player to have a player option and that provision than to have neither one. It's kind of a mutual option, but having the date so early disincentivizes a team from using it, while the player gets to wait until the last possible moment to decide on his option.

Lance, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL. That is the last thing this team needs. But who knows I guess.

Stuckey was solid when he was healthy. Unfortunately he was really only healthy that one year when he was playing for a contract. Sucks to be cut after the playoff eligibility date, but at least he doesn't need to rush his rehab? Better luck to him at his next stop.

At least Lance does provide some D and has shown some signs of hitting the 3. The 2015-16 Lance shot 38.5% from 3 for the season...of course as we all know the 2014-15 Lance shot 17.1%.

There are a few teams (Utah?) below the minimum that could claim Stuckey to save some money. But I think Lances contract keeps the Pacers above the minimum.

Wow, these guys are on top of it. (They may be guessing that Lance is a $4M, $4M, $4M).

I really feel for Rodney, because I can relate better than just about anyone when it comes to inability to overcome certain chronic injuries.

I also really like his demeanor, professionalism and he always seemed like a good teammate and presence in the locker room.

So I take no pleasure in seeing this happen.

But, with that being said, it was absolutely the right move. A difficult, but correct move.

Edit: I should also mention that beyond the sentimentality, there were times when Rodney played REALLY well for us. I mean, he went into "Godney Stuckey" mode when healthy on many occasions. That makes the injury situation even more sad, from my PoV.

I was always puzzled about that drop that he rebounded from pretty quick. Maybe it was an undisclosed wrist injury or something.

If they are right, that makes a 3yr/$12M contract into a 1 + 10 games/$4M contract. All things considered, not that bad a deal for the Pacers. Especially if B&G is right about Lance. In that case, that second year @$4M will seem like real deal.

I kinda wanna sign Lance and see him do anything remotely positive in the playoffs just to watch PD burn. There's as good a chance that they sign me though.

Stuckey and Lance are often compared. There games are nothing alike.

BTW, good luck but good riddance to Stuckey. He's never been a winning type of player. Lance will help this team win games. No question about it.

I've spent the last couple years saying he would be back, and I'm having a hard time believing it. But Larry does love that guy. He wants to show the world he can make Lance successful again. He's a believer.

I wish Rodney the best in his career. I may not have agreed with re-signing him (even though he absolutely deserved it based on his performance, the fact that he was too similar to Monta wasn't good for the team) but he has always tried his best when on the court. Get well soon, Rodney

Him going down last year really hurt the team. And early this year, the team was better when Stuckey played. He just was never the same in this latest return. It was the best business move but hate to see him go out like this.

I don't think Stuckey had many friends on the team. I can't think of a Pacer that appeared to be close to him.

Just have to post a thank you to Larry Bird for today. Waiving Stuckey and picking up Lance is exactly what I have wanted for a long time now. We are in a better place and have our 5th starter now.

This is the key. Paul George will make a fine SG. It's actually better that he's out on the perimeter in the passing lanes. Lance will be fine at SF. Great post defense. Monta is terrible next to Teague. CJ Miles and GRIII are backups. These are just the cold hard facts. Lance will be starting soon.

I love Stucky but he is injured too often, if he can not stay healthy we do not need that. But man when he is healthy I love what he brought to the team.

The contract length is basically the same for Lance as we would have had with Stuckey if we didn't waive him. Considering Lance's injury history I doubt if he's healthy enough to play in as many games as Stuckey with during the duration of his contract.
People seem to ignore how injury prone Lance has became.
Larry Bird qouted March 25th. 2015:

Bird: I wanted to keep our group together because in the summer, if David and Roy opt out, we're back to zero, really. We don't have that much, so you leave your options open. If we did make a trade, I didn't want to take on a lot of contracts -- because that's what usually happens. Plus, I liked my guys. They're playing well. If we keep the core together and Paul comes back healthy, we'll be right back to where we were.
