This is so depressing, at the end of the day I got to put this on Nate , he's the head coach

Bird, not cause the moves he made player wise, because if your going to reinvent , you don't fire Vogel, and replace him with his underlink. No matter how bad or good another coach would have been I would have gave more props to Bird for at least tryin something besides the guy under the guy you just fired

Man, its a grey cloud right now
There is no visibility. I am not one of those posters who thinks Vogel is the next John Wooden, but Bird did make a mistake. There wasn't any reason to fire Vogel. Frank was probably our third best coach in NBA history behind Larry Brown and Rick Carlisle...and Frank might have gotten better with more experience.

But Bird's mistakes ran deep and wide. He has made numerous bad moves over the last few years. This is coming from a long time Bird supporter. I'm now off that bandwagon. I cut him slack for a full year of mistakes and he continued making them.

There were reasons to keep Vogel, but also reasons to not give him another longer contract.

He certainly didn't prove anything in Orlando.

I don't really get why the Bucks are under .500.
Because they suck. They beat us because we kinda suck too.

Frank Vogel might be the most overrated figure in Pacers history.

My point is: They're getting a monster season from the Greek Freak, they have elite defensive length, solid guys at all positions (save for point guard), decent shooting...I guess I just don't understand why they aren't better. Yes, I know, Parker got hurt and Middleton only came back recently, but even still, in the East, I would think they would be better.

Which franchise guy did we tank for?
Since people throw the word "tank" around to suit any context they want, I'm not sure how to answer that.

Not true, tanking is not trying to make the playoffs in order to get a lottery pick.

Unless a member of this forum is on the team, I'm not sure how anyone here mentioning missing the playoffs might be for the best for the team is considered tanking.

I like playing to win and still drafting good players.
    Amen.

Danny and Roy are two good examples.

Turned out to be players who had huge impacts on the team for a number of years, without us having to be utterly garbage to snag them.

I agree that a good portion of the board overrates him. But I am sure that he's better than any other Pacer coach since Carlisle. Better than Zeke, JOb and obviously better than our retread coach. He inspired players and they liked playing for him. That is half the battle. The other half was X's and O's.

What we really need is Rick Vogel. The guy is a combination of Frank and Carlisle. IOW, we need Popovich who has all of the tools to be a great NBA coach.
