Thread: Woj: Pacers assessing trade market for Paul George

This summer we've got cap space? All we're gonna sign is $10 million guys. No big named FAs are coming here & Simon doesn't care enough about winning to pay up. And if somehow PG stays, which honestly I hope he just walks for nothing if we're not gonna trade him, then our cap situation will be even worse. I can't even put my head around PG making $200 million. We will be so f'd. I really thought we were going to fix the future & give us some real hope with some young guys & cap space, but we're screwing up not dealing Paul to Boston. Go trade for Afflalo now! So exciting let me go buy some tickets for Friday night's blowout loss.

As soon as the Spurs called and said, "Hey, we're interested in making a trade if Kawahi Leonard is on the board," Pacers should've hung up and drafted Kawhi Leonard for themselves. It would be like if Bill Belichick told you he really liked a defensive player.

I mean, in hindsight it's a freaking heist, but at the time, I can't remember more than a few people here and there not liking that trade. Nobody, probably not even the Spurs, thought Kawhi would turn into this.
That is why they get paid the big bucks. San Antonio had no problem with the trade. I felt that Hill was an average player. Not worth what the Pacers gave up.

What's the point of even being a fan of a small market team? No free agent is choosing to go to Indianapolis.
This is how I feel even if we had/have the money to pay for a free agent. I'm willing to bet that Indy is near bottom of the list for a majority of the top players. Even if we were above mediocre, no one has really ever wanted to come here to play

    I seriously checked twitter.

I'd easily trade our 1st round pick for him if we could.

PG sounds pretty confident that he's staying, saying he's had good conversations with Pacers brass.

    this is true.

I had a bad feeling about it but I never thought he turned out as well as he did either I just assumed based on how well the Spurs draft that he was going to at least be good not a potential superstar.

Larry Bird qouted March 25th. 2015:

Bird: I wanted to keep our group together because in the summer, if David and Roy opt out, we're back to zero, really. We don't have that much, so you leave your options open. If we did make a trade, I didn't want to take on a lot of contracts -- because that's what usually happens. Plus, I liked my guys. They're playing well. If we keep the core together and Paul comes back healthy, we'll be right back to where we were.

Can't wait till PG is making $40 million a season. That's when we'll have championship rosters

No player is going to make $40 million a season. Regardless the Pacers would let him walk before it gets to that point the Simons aren't big on spending $$$ like that.

Pay Teague $20 million per, PG $40 million per & Myles will be due soon, say $18 per. That's $78 million total.

Our total team salary this year is $90 million. That would give us $12 million to fill out 12 roster spots. Yea, don't trade PG, gotta keep him! Max him out! Our future is so bright! Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5.

Kawhi was thought to be a very solid player. No one thought he'd be an all star.
And everyone keeps forgetting that we had what we thought was a healthy Danny Granger at the time.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

Wonder if OKC Thunder would like to have the #1 pick in the draft this year & a chance at the next James Harden, Kawhi Leanord, Chris Paul or Jason Kidd, along with Jaylen Brown & Jae Crowder. I bet Westbrook would like the help.

Deal is only going to get worse in time, deal needs to be made tomorrow. Larry needs to look at OKC & learn something, fast.
