I don't really see why it's an issue at all playing the title game two days after the semifinals. No one wants to wait an entire week between two games it kills the momentum. The bigger issue for quality basketball is playing the games in football stadiums.

I'd heard he was kind of a troubled kid from people in Evansville. Loads of talent, hopefully he can pull himself together and maybe work his way up through the D-League or something.

    Update: they got him.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I don't think we'll ever keep a coach long term.

What a train wreck that would be. A program that has been built on smart players and solid coaching going with a 'coach' like Crean who is the exact opposite of that.
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Crean's not an elite coach, we all know that, but you guys gotta stop acting like he's some bum or something. I don't know that Butler's one of em, but there's a lot of schools that'd be lucky to have him.

Leaning toward Lavall Jordan or Shrewsbury for next Butler coach. Probably whichever one can convince this recruiting class to stay.....

He's not wrong. When I think of Butler basketball, I think of smart, hard-working, intelligent basketball players who have had toughness drilled into them from the day they set foot on campus, with unwavering faith in their coaches when a game is on the line. All in all, people who have a plan and know what they're doing.

When I think of Crean, I think of uncontrollable manic energy, dysfunction among coaches, frequent miscommunications between players and staff, defense being optional, offenses that ask players to do things they aren't capable of doing consistently, and a coach who has no plan and no commitment to anything, just looking for guys who look good with a basketball in their hands.

I disagree that we're too hard on him. He's not a good coach and he got way too much rope here.

It looks like Louisville is going to be forced to vacate their 2013 national championship, among other penalties. Ouch.

And now that there's a precedent for it, there's a greater chance that UNC will be forced to vacate a title or two, as well.

When I remember watching the 2013 NCAA championship game, I'll remember a great game which had Louisville beating Michigan to win the championship.

    That's such a dumb penalty.

No, I'd say bum is a pretty good label for him at least in regards to being a joke of a coach. As far as a human being, no I wouldn't call him a bum. But call him a bad coach? Yes, definitely. Very glad he's gone. He needs to coach somewhere that 'needs' (or craves) hype more than solid basketball.

I think it's easy to say that when it's someone else. If IU ever vacated a championship, I'd probably never get over it.

True, having it in the history books with the physical banner hanging definitely means something, ESPECIALLY as time goes on and you want people who weren't alive when it happened to see it and appreciate it (like the IU banners for younger IU fans who weren't even alive when it last happened, but appreciate the significance).
