I forgot we signed Bentil. I really like that guy. Of our project big men, he's my favorite.

Concerned though because he is not on the roster. We waived him remember? So I wonder if another team could poach him from us by calling him up. Or do we have exclusive Mad Ants rights to him however this works?

So the Mad Ants season has started and yet Joe Young, Christmas and Niang are all still on our active roster?

Screw it, just sign him now. Can he really be worse than Christmas, Allen, or Niang?

I would cut Christmas because we really haven't gotten to see him improve at all since we got him, or at least we haven't seen him on the court to know if he has. Minimal loss, really. Bentil has some potential.

Any team can sign him. The Pacers have no more rights to him than any other team in the NBA.

I watched most of the Ants games last year and saw Christmas improve his game as the year progressed although he did hit a slump just after the all star break. Giving up on Christmas would be a big mistake
Larry Bird qouted March 25th. 2015:

Bird: I wanted to keep our group together because in the summer, if David and Roy opt out, we're back to zero, really. We don't have that much, so you leave your options open. If we did make a trade, I didn't want to take on a lot of contracts -- because that's what usually happens. Plus, I liked my guys. They're playing well. If we keep the core together and Paul comes back healthy, we'll be right back to where we were.

Are you sure? Because we own the Mad Ants. It's not an open D-League affiliate. The Pacers organization owns the team outright. Isn't there special circumstances that come with a team owning a D-league team versus a team which is just a 'pool' team not owned by anyone?

We staff the team, etc. Get to model them to see how guys do in certain systems. That's the benefit.

I thought somehow we have more rights to Bentil then other teams because we signed, waived/sent to mad ants etc... ?

Didn't even realize that was a thing.

Do they have short contracts overseas?

God forbid this season spirals into a mess, I wouldn't mind seeing Bentil getting some minutes with the Pacers once he's back from his sojourn in China. Actually, I wouldn't mind see him get some reserve minutes even if the season isn't a mess.

If nothing else, Bentil has potential. It will be interesting to explore that.

Bentil has a ton more potential than Niang, I don't understand why Niang is on the roster and we sent Bentil to NBDL.

X-Mas back up to the main roster. I saw he had 7 points in 19 minutes the other night. Anyone watch the game? It's still a relatively small sample size but I've been disappointed with his summer league/preseason/garbage time showings.

He got really inconsistent near the end of the time in Fort Wayne, when he was on he was a beast though.

He hit a stretch just after the all star break where he didn't play well for several games. At the end of the season I thought he looked much improved though. He started the year out as a beast in the paint but was constantly in foul trouble. By the end of the season he was showing good range with his shot and seemed to have figured out how to stay out of foul trouble. I'd like to see Christmas given a shot at some playing time. IMO he's a better player than Lavoy.
