Wow. Goodyear on the Cavs jerseys? Wiki says they profited off slave labor as recent as the 1960's.

    From wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodye...y#cite_note-30

    Corporate issues[edit]

Foreign Relations with Indonesia in the 1960's[edit]

Following the military coup in Indonesia in 1965, His Excellency Suharto encouraged Goodyear to return and offered rubber resources and political prisoners as labor. In an NBC special aired in 1967, reporter Ted Yates aired footage showing former Communist rubber union workers escorted at gunpoint to the rubber plantation.
Bad as things are in Indonesia, one positive fact is known. Indonesia has a fabulous potential wealth in natural resources and the New Order [the fascist regime headed by pro-U.S. General Suharto] wants it exploited. So they are returning the private properties expropriated by Sukarno's regime. Goodyear's Sumatran rubber empire is an example. It was seized [by the rubber workers] in retaliation for U.S. aggression in Vietnam in 1965. The rubber workers union was Communist-run, so after the coup many of them were killed or imprisoned. Some of the survivors, you see them here, still work the rubber -- but this time as prisoners, and at gunpoint.[30]

New logo for Detroit. I expect a few of these with Nike taking over the on-court gear. Any word on new threads for the Pacers?

It's a new day for Pacers Basketball.

So Marcin Gortat reportedly wants out of Washington. Think we should trade for him as a backup center? I think Washington would welcome the cap space if they plan to keep Otto Porter.

Trade him for AlJeff, they stretch AlJeff for the cap space, everybody wins!

Yeah, I'd love Gortat as a backup. Partially so he stops eating the Pacers' lunch. He seemed pretty disgruntled, and sounds like it's been going on throughout the season. Maybe he comes cheap. But I doubt it. And I doubt he's really ready to come be the backup here.

Why does he have to be a back up? Start him at Center and move Myles to PF. We improve our rebounding and toughness.

I wonder how much was paid to come up with that revolutionary design.

Wait a sec...that's the new logo? I thought that was the same logo as before? What's the difference?

    Different font I think?

In lieu of a cool original idea, I'm ok with this. I loved the classic logo and uniforms. Everything went downhill when we switched to ththe stupid flaming horse.

FYI, that hasn't been our logo in 22 years. We've been moving a little in that direction since 2002 but not since 1995 has that been our symbol.

The Horse one is peak 90s. Cartoonish, teal, garish uniforms. I love it.

Ugliest ****ing thing I ever saw. Fans hated it. Players hated wearing it. The first act of Joe Dumars as team president was to get rid of them.

Oh yeah, they needed to ditch that **** as soon as humanly possible. It was an affront to their storied history as a franchise. I have fond memories of it's absurdity now. Loved that teal Grant Hill jersey I had back in the day too.

It's somethig that's gotten better in retrospect. I've seen way more of that logo in the past few years than the current logo (well not the Most current).

No I think our starting unit is fine. Gortat can't guard stretch 5's or 4's. Thad and Myles can. They also bring an element of quickness and athleticism Gortat doesn't.

Russell Westbrook new father of baby boy

It’s been a good year for Russell Westbrook.

Coming off an MVP level season where he was the first person to average a triple-double in 55 years, he broke the news that he is the father of a new baby boy, named Noah.

Westbrook had said after the Thunder were eliminated that he was going to focus on the birth of his child and being there for his family, then worry about a contract extension or anything like that later. The Thunder can offer him a super-max, designated player contract this summer and are expected to do so. It’s also expected that he’ll sign it.

But it’s understandable that he wants to focus on family right now. As he should.

Congratulations to Westbrook and his family. Savor the time together.

    http://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/05/16/...d-clinic-nicu/

J.R. Smith, wife Shirley buy mother’s day flowers for every mom of child in Cleveland Clinic NICU

The Cavalier’s J.R. Smith‘s wife Shirley is a nurse in one of the most heart-wrenching places on the planet — the neonatal intensive care unit of a major hospital. It’s where babies at risk of imminent death go as doctors and nurses work to save them, and where new parents are understandably emotionally distraught. It takes a special kind of person to work there.

Smith wanted to brighten a Mother’s Day for new moms spending it in a hospital, so he and his wife teamed to buy every mom flowers, as reported by Fox 8 in Cleveland. Shirley wrote about it in her blog.

My husband came up with the brilliant idea of getting all of the mothers in the NICU flowers today so we did just that. When the flowers arrived I pushed the cart and Demi placed an arrangement of flowers in every room…it was super special and we both enjoyed it.

It was a thoughtful, generous gesture to brighten the day of people he did not personally know. J.R. Smith is not just a guy who rides a hoverboard around the arena drinking a beer after a big loss, or who hates shirts, he’s far more complex than that.

    Hat tip to Reddit NBA.

Having your baby in NICU is terrifying and straight up torture. NICU nurses really are one of God's gifts. Amazing people and thoughtful/generous is only the tip of the iceberg of what they truly are.

You don't need both front court players stretching the floor and Turner can do that. We need a low post defender and rebounder much, much more.
Whoever we bring in to shore up our interior defense it needs to be a physical big man and not a stretch player.
Larry Bird qouted March 25th. 2015:

Bird: I wanted to keep our group together because in the summer, if David and Roy opt out, we're back to zero, really. We don't have that much, so you leave your options open. If we did make a trade, I didn't want to take on a lot of contracts -- because that's what usually happens. Plus, I liked my guys. They're playing well. If we keep the core together and Paul comes back healthy, we'll be right back to where we were.

Remember shooting is all that matters to Grimp (think he maybe JOB's son). Grimp would have been the perfect Bird coach. "Hey Bird, just give me a bunch of high volume shooters, I'll just let them shoot" "Defense and rebounding?, we don't need that, I'm starting Swaggy at Center"
