    Default A Question for Peck

Peck, I consider you to be one of the most wise Pacers fans, being someone that has followed them extremely closely for many, many years and has had season tickets for a while.

I know that you are probably one of the most highly critical fans of Donnie Walsh on this board. I remember that maybe a year ago you outlined why you didn't care for him that much, and you mentioned that you thought the Pacers maybe could have had Barkley, but pulled back.

If you get the free time, could you elaborate on this a bit more? It may be harder for you to criticize Walsh now, seeing that the Pacers got Dale Davis, your favorite player back....

    Thank you

Well first off being the wisest Pacer fan is way way way off course. I am far to emotional when it comes to the Pacers & therefor I do not always logically look at problems.

But thank you for thinking of me anyway.

Now before I go any further with this I have to ask. Are you wanting me to lay out my complaints with Walsh or are you wanting me to lay out the complaint about the time we could have had Charles Barkley but instead were treated to a Ross Perot sign & chart graph seminar?

I would be curious to a little insight about both.

I never knew that we could have had Barkley until you mentioned it that one time

    How close were we?

This isn't urgent or anything, I know it is a bizarre time to ask, with game 7 being tomorrow, I was just curious....It's doesn't matter when you reply...But I would like to hear a little more on it whenever you have the time to do it

I thought it was solely Barkley's decision to go to Houston instead of coming hear.

We were on his short list, but he screwed up.

I'll let Peck explain it out, but I am very confident this situation happened when Barkley went from Philly to Phoenix. I believe Barkley said publicly he wanted to come to Indiana.

I don't remember anything about him being traded here from Philly, not saying it didn't happen, I just don't remember it.

I do remember the Pacers and Houston were his 2 choices when he left Phoenix and it wouldn't have cost us much becuase he was unrestricted.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

He's your father, right? I got the whole kegboy/grace/brother/sister thing wrong, too, so I'm just trying to get all these familial relationships on here straight.
