Dane Fife? Wow. Why don't we just hire Tom Coverdale. He coached at some small college in Bum**** Egypt.

"I'm gonna be here until the @Celtics decide to move in another direction." - @Celtics HC Brad Stevens on the Indy coaching rumors.

not that it even needed to be said.

Indy is Indianapolis not Indiana; sorry--pet peeve.

No crap on Stevens too. He's got a great thing going I wouldn't leave for any college job if I were him. Next job he takes might be succeeding Pop as Team USA coach.

would never happen cuz he doesn't have the track record yet, but I think Andy Enfield would be a home run

I would greatly prefer him over the other Los Angeles based Pac-12 coach.

Sorry, South Park joke. I wasn't getting on your case about the first post. We all know Stevens isn't coming to IU, sadly.

Archie v Marshall in the Fieldhouse. It'll be good to know one of the candidates can win in this building, because IU sure as **** can't.

Harbaugh brothers take issue with the firing of their brother-in-law

Basketball coach Tom Crean married into one of the best-known coaching families in America. So when Indiana fired Crean, they necessarily opened themselves up to criticism from the Brothers Harbaugh.

Ravens coach John and Michigan coach Jim both had strong comments in the aftermath of Crean’s termination by the Hoosiers. John’s comments focused more on Indiana; Jim’s touched on his own experience with a job coming to an end.

“[M]uch like my situation in San Francisco, the people that are doing the micromanaging . . . when it comes to building a ball team, what they know could not blow up a small balloon,” Jim Harbaugh told Michael Rosenberg of SI.com. “In my case, an owner and a General Manager. In [Tom’s case] case, an administration. They are so similar in that way. And he still wins two Big Ten championships outright.”

Jim Harbaugh was referring to 49ers owner Jed York and former G.M. Trent Baalke. It’s the second time in recent weeks that Jim has offered public criticism of his former team.

John Harbaugh questioned whether Indiana understands what a coach needs from a school’s administration.

“In the end, it was the lack of support that basically takes its toll the most,” John Harbaugh said. “You want to feel like you’re part of a team and you’re doing it together. It’s about knowledge, loyalty and leadership. This is the merry-ground that Indiana athletics has been on forever. . . . He was just going through what he was going through — the administration over the years, the toll it takes on you. This has not been the last four or five days. It’s been the last four, five, six years.”

John Harbaugh had no personal experience to compare the situation to because the Ravens have at all times supported him, which helps explain why the Ravens contend far more often than they don’t.

A lot of the message board posters are saying they're hearing Donovan. It's not all from one guy either. In fact there's a disagreement between "insiders" about who the back-up plan is (one says its Alford, other says Alford isn't a serious candidate). The only constant between them is IU targeting Donovan as their #1 option, so it's definitely not all from one guy.

Dan Dakich practically salivating at the thought of Alford as coach. He thinks Steve could actually make all the Indiana kids want to play at Indiana. Whoever Indiana brings in, this should be a priority.

I'm really, really high on Enfield. do get the sense he's NBA bound eventually regardless of what kinda college offers he gets though, he's not close to an NCAA lifer at all. I don't know if he's just a coaching period lifer.

Star's got a story with quotes from a 2018 recruit about Crean/IU and how he wasn't really in contact, yada yada. he's a good player, but he's a sub-100 recruit that none of the major state programs see as a priority. I'm not linking it specifically because it's straight up shameful for them to use a 16 year old kid for clicks like they are, the headline is specifically about what this 16 year old high school kid thinks about IU's situation.

Indystar article about IU recruiting in state with Crean. I get the idea Creaning and broken promises about playing time became a factor. Possibly an undue fixation on some out of state players as well.

Something I read the other day was IU's reputation is more tarnished in state than nationally. IU still gets major media exposure and is treated like a blue blood on the sports networks. Until recently the games were packed and looked/sounded good on national TV. Out of state players/casual fans weren't as privy to some of the anti-Crean complaints as local people. In fact, his 'passion' was usually on display and thought to be a good thing by those tuning in or hearing commentators looking for good things to say/show. So maybe that is a factor as well: His act became a harder sell to those closer to it.

Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Dackich being on board is reason enough to have serious pause.
