Billy Donovan's name has been tossed around lately for college openings. Just spoke to Donovan and he said he is "very, very happy in the NBA and in Oklahoma City -- and is committed there." Hasn't even finished his second season in NBA.

    Jeff Goodman, ESPN Insider
Yes, yes, of course. Wouldn't expect him to say anything else.

Goodman has been on IU's *** for like the past month and a half. But honestly what would you expect Donovan to say either way? Those type of questions always crack me up.

He really has been. Is there any reason for this?

"I'm not going to be the Alabama coach." -Nick Saban, for 6 weeks

6 weeks later…Nick Saban, Alabama football coach.

Woof, I'm way out on Gregg Marshall after those final few plays by Wichita State. If not for UK fouling on a 3 it wouldn't have been up for grabs at all.

the basketball coach is the face of a lot of schools, but especially IU. Steve Alford is a rape apologist and denier in the face of abundant evidence. I have a niece at IU right now, I have daughters of close friends that may go to IU down the road. any of you with Alford on your list need to look up his repeated defenses of Pierre Pierce and ask yourself if you'd be comfortable sending any woman to a school whose administration thinks it's an acceptable position. unless you agree with Knight that if it's inevitable she should just lay back and enjoy it.
And this from a guy (Alford -Franklin College graduation speaker last year) who is a no-holds-barred, bible-thumping Christian. Nothing against Christians whatsoever. Know a lot of great ones. But the irony in this case...

Well basically every college IU coaching target is out already. Alford only one still playing and he could definitely be done after today.

I guess depending on if we're considering guys like Cronin or Mack.

It's been so long ago that it happened that I actually had forgot about it. I didn't know a lot about it in the first place. I just assumed at the time that Steve was sticking up for his player because you don't want to believe that those close to you are capable of that sort of thing. Reading about it now it seems like Steve is one of what I call "fake Christians".(not to be confused with real Christians who are generally good people). Fake Christians are a big part of what is wrong with America. They hold their Christianity up like a badge all the while forgetting everything they learned in church as soon as they walk out the doors. They are a big reason why this country is currently in the mess we are in right now politically.

It seems to me that IU has a dilemma right now if Alford is on their radar. Would Alford have to come out and address the issue head on and explain himself before being considered? It seems he has been running from his conduct in this matter even to this day. Not the way I would expect a Christian to behave. I would rather just get Donovan and not have to deal with this mess.

Davis is staying, I know there were rumors of him possibly transferring.

They asked Alford about the Pierce/rape case yesterday I believe in relation to the IU job and his response was basically "I already talked about the IU job" and that was it. So no he's still a trash human

He already did that when he took the UCLA job.

I did see that in the second story I read. Was it only after him and the AD got criticism?

Look I want absolutely no part of Alford coaching IU, but he's addressed this issue almost annually since then. He's survived being vetted by two schools. I get not wanting him to coach IU. But let's stop trying to rip apart the human because we don't want him coaching the team.

Once again things are taken out of context. The woman who asked the question initialially posted it as solely a question about the rape, which made his answer seem to be one of avoidance. She later clarified and posted that her question was about how that case would relate to whether he would be considered for the IU job (or something along those lines. In any case, much more IU related). Thus the IU related answer.

Don't know what you mean. I'm the one on here who wants him as coach if Donovan doesn't sign on. I didn't know much about the rape story so I'm just catching up. I was just pointing out that he does seem to be a little hypocritical if he holds himself up like a Christian.

I wasn't singling you out or anything; I've just read a ton of crap about this over the past few days in various places and I don't think it's totally fair.

Nah, I'm not gonna let it slide when Glass gets up there and flaps his gums (literally the very first thing he brought up) about the importance of a coach not having off court issues. To me asking a potential rape victim to come pray with her potential rapist, is a big ****ing deal and I'm not willing to overlook it no matter how many years it's been

Anyway, I still will be absolutely shocked if IU hires a coach that so much of the fan base is vocally against.

I mean that's part of the reason I don't think Alford will be the guy (the other, far bigger one, being his actual coaching resume).

I mean yeah, his coaching resume is the weakest of just about any of the rumored candidates without a doubt.

Tucker took IU off of his list. Disappointing, but not surprising.

Yeah let's see what things look like after we get a new coach in place.

You know, as much flack as Alford is getting... The guy has taken UCLA to 3 sweet sixteens over the last 4 years, that's not bad at all.
