I'm ok with this. I like Young, I'm not too hot on this draft. Wouldn't mind if we can buy an extra pick though, just to have some future talent in the pipeline.

Does this mean Ian is gone? Presumably Turner-Young is our starting lineup. While Young is a nice player, he's not the burly PF many wanted next to Turner.

EDIT: whoops looks like I've been ninja'd

Well, Zach Lowe seems to agree with my line of thinking.

I actually meant it was a move that helped them be good, while simultaneously ensuring that they cannot achieve great. A play it safe move. A win 45-52 games before losing in the playoffs move. The sort of move you expect from a franchise who has already erased winning a title from the possibilities, and is looking for some nice moral victories.

If he is your best starter your team is in trouble. If he is your 4th best starter then you are looking pretty good.

First thoughts... Draft party will suck tonight lol
Celebrate the drafting of Thad Young....that and the consumption of a lot of alcohol fixed all problems.

Hell yes! Great move. Young is a perfect stretch 4 for this team in my opinion

We need Kent Bazemore or Evan Fournier to make this a complete overhaul for contending next year.

So I'm going to be completely honest, for some reason I have never paid a lick of attention to Thad Young and have NO idea how he plays, what his strengths and weaknesses are etc. Aside from watching a few highlight reels just now I am completely in the dark. Can somebody give me a quick rundown on Young and what to expect? Thanks in advance

You and I typically agree on the lack of potential of this Pacers team, but I'm not sure what you were expecting to get at #20 in a weak draft. Young is great value for that pick and gives us the small ball 4 we've been looking for.

I want to go home so bad and try this lineup in NBA 2K16 😭.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

He won't offer any shooting though. Particularly from distance.
That's why matching him with Turner is nice. Myles can stretch the floor

If you're wanting to play small, you're going to have a hard time finding a better fit with Myles.

I'm hoping we spend that $15 million on shooters. I'd be tickled pink with our offseason (save for the coaching downgrade) if we were able to sign one of those two guys.

    Young isn't a stretch 4. He's a versatile, small ball 4. He's never shot above 34% from 3, and shot 23% last year.

Teams are looking to clear cap space at the cost of a draft pick......I say continue to do what we are doing now....use our cap space to acquire assets...not sign anyone via Free Agency ( except Mahinmi using our Bird Rights ).

    Wow!

I wanted Young but I am not sure I wanted to give up a 1st round pick for him...unless we had another 1st or early 2nd round pick.

Our starting lineup is starting to shape up. I'd like to see us pick up a starting wing and either trade Ellis or move him to the bench.

I'd also like to see us pick up a 1st round or early 2nd round pick...mostly just to make tonight's draft interesting.

Young really isn't a stretch 4 you guys. For his career, 66.8% of his shots come within 10ft of the basket, and last season it was 77.6%. He's had some pretty good seasons shooting from midrange, and other really bad seasons, averaging out to 38% on his career from 16-<3pt line.

I think his scoring style will really compliment Myles.

I want to use every cent up to both the Salary Cap ( for Non-Pacers FA ) and up to the LT ( for any Pacers FA ).

Yeah sorry, small ball 4 was more accurate. Don't know why I said stretch.

I don't get the impression that many teams are looking for future assets...especially with high availability of 1st and 2nd rounders.
