    Default Indy Eleven 2016

With most of the roster filled out for this season I figured it was time to open up a new thread for the 2016 season. This offseason has brought a lot of change to the Indy Eleven. We have a new head coach in Tim Hankinson (Tim Regan stayed on as an assistant). Peter Wilt is in the process of stepping down as president in order to build a new NASL team in Chicago. In his place is ex-IMS president and CEO Jeff Belskus.

The roster as it currently stands.
    No. Position Player Nation
1 Goalkeeper Keith Cardona United States
4 Midfielder Brad Ring United States
    5 Defender Lovel Palmer Jamaica
6 Midfielder Dylan Mares United States
    7 Midfielder Don Smart Jamaica
    8 Midfielder Nicki Paterson Scotland
    9 Forward Éamon Zayed Libya
10 Midfielder Siniša Ubiparipović Bosnia and Herzegovina
12 Defender Greg Janicki United States
14 Forward Duke Lacroix United States
15 Midfielder Daniel Keller United States
16 Defender Cory Miller United States
    17 Midfielder Dragan Stojkov Macedonia
18 Goalkeeper Jon Busch United States
    19 Forward Wojciech Wojcik Poland
23 Defender Marco Franco United States
    32 Defender Colin Falvey Ireland
    — Forward Justin Braun United States
    — Defender Stephen DeRoux Jamaica
    — Midfielder Gorka Larrea Spain
    — Midfielder Neil Shaffer United States
    — Midfielder Nemanja Vuković Montenegro

So half or more of the team will be new to the team this season, with the majority of them projected to be starters. Norales and Nicht are no longer with the team, as well as Kleberson and Pena who both spent most or all of last year out with injuries. With more veterans, and from reports a higher payroll, hopefully the team will be far more competitive than the prior two seasons.

Zayed has been looking good so far in training apparently, hopefully we will finally have a forward capable of scoring goals in bunches.

This is a very good roster. The forwards are a little questionable, same as left midfield, but overall I'm very excited.

Reinoso has been with the team. He played in the friendly against Butler. We're going to be running a 4-2-3-1 it looks like. Probably

The Rayo OKC co-owner tweeted another network is about to get involved with the NASL (I would assume CBS Sports). Really this has been a fantastic off-season for the league. A couple expansion clubs added as well as possibly a couple national TV deals.

Put in Larrea for Ring and I agree with your XI.

The Home Opener is tonight. It is probably going to be a sellout, but you should be able to catch it on BeIN sports or Wish TV.

Our attack seems unbalanced, Patterson and Ring are redundant together, it forces Braun and LaCroix to play positions that they are not best at. I feel like the 4-2-3-1 is centered around Ubiparapovic and Zayed and does not take into account the rest of the midfield, fitting square pegs into round holes basically.

Exciting finish to the Indy game tonight. We were trailing the Cosmos 1-0 in the 88th minute (or around there) and Zayed scored two goals to get us three points.

Indy picked up another 2-1 win @Rayo OKC last night. Goals from Jair Reinoso and Nemanja Vukovic. We are now in 3rd place.

Indy is the only undefeated team left in the NASL and have already played New York and Tampa. They have a real shot of winning the spring season if they can win their home matches.

We play Carolina the last game of the year at home in what might be a match for a playoff appearance. They also have Minnesota at home which is a huge advantage. Our road matches are the Florida teams we haven't played: Jacksonville, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale. They are 7th, 10th, and 11th in the league, respectively.

So I guess I don't understand the standings - we're the only undefeated team but we're in 3rd place. Have we drawn a bunch of matches?

The season is only 4 games old, but yes, they've won two and drawn two.

Soccer goes by a point system for their standings. 3pts for a win, 1pt for a draw, 0 pts for a loss. Indy has 2 wins and 2 draws in 4 games for a total of 8pts.
