    Default Pacers/Thunder

I was scrolling across another forum and read this trade. A Thunder fan loved the idea:

    George Hill
    Solomon Hill
    Shayne Whittington

    for

    Cameron Payne
    Dion Waiters
    Mitch McGary

I like George Hill more than most here and would much rather move Monta Ellis than him, but this trade would make sense for both teams. The Thunder bring in a good backup guard who has experience in big games and would fit their offense. He wouldn't need to control the ball and would be a reliable three point shooter for Durant and Westbrook to kick it out to. He gets them closer to winning a Championship right now than Cameron Payne does.

The Pacers get a PG they can work with and potentially develop into the PG of the future for the team. We aren't going to be competing for a Championship now and add a rookie lotto pick to grow with Turner.

I'd do it but I'd then flip Waiters and a 1st to Portland for CJ McCollum.

Would the Thunder trade Payne that quickly? I like the trade honestly.
First time in a long time, I've been happy with the team that was constructed, and now they struggle. I blame the coach.

An OKC fan said he would do it in a heartbeat. Reports are indicating that Durant is really wanting to win. The Thunder are going to have to take steps in that direction if they want to keep him. George Hill is a veteran PG who played a lot of minutes with the Spurs and Pacers, two of the more successful teams over the past however many years, and can spread the floor even more for Durant and Westbrook.

    That would be silly.

If we get Payne, the last thing we need to do is sacrifice our 1st to bring in someone to play the same position as a rookie lottery pick.

I will default to my standard response for what we should do for the long term.

With Monta and PG13, it requires that we have Guards/Wings that can play off the ball. Stuckey is the guy to be moved....not GH. He's the only guy that can play with anybody on the Team.

Before Grimp gets his panties in a bunch about GH......I'm saying that GH should be kept but moved to the 6th Man spot ( NOT kept in the Starting lineup as the STARTING GUARD ) to run the 2nd unit as the PG ( where he can be more ball dominant ) while splitting time with the Starting Unit ( where he can be both ball dominant but more than likely play "off the ball" ).

Having Monta and Stuckey on the Guard rotation where both are not only redundant but are ineffective Off the Ball Players is not going to work for the long term.

Now, if Stuckey+1st can't net us what we want.....I have ZERO problem waiting til the offseason and making a move then. Ignoring Grimp's plea to go "ALL IN" now cuz he wants to convince PG13 that we are serious about winning....but there is NO REQUIREMENT for us to make a move in the next 2 weeks. The deadline to make a move is the end of the Summer of 2016.

I like this trade! I would love to have Payne and McGary as Pacers. Don't care one way nor the other about Waiters.

How effective is Payne playing "off the ball"?

One Player that I would target on the Thunder ( merely as a total side trade ) is Anthony Morrow ( who has a Team option next season at ~ $3.5 mil )

I'd send a 2nd round pick + Chase for Morrow and use Morrow as a Bench Wing to pair with the 2nd unit. The guy has averaged north of 41% from the 3pt line over to the last 3 seasons. He's not a Starter, he's not even a 6th Man...I'd consider him a 3pt shooter role player coming off the bench to pair with Stuckey / Monta / GH in the 2nd unit.

CJ is a shooting guard, Payne is a point guard.

At 6'4, he is undersized for my taste. I consider that a PG who was too selfish growing up.

Is Iverson really even 6' tall?

I'd rather trade Monta, even if he brings back less.
