    Default Jerome James

I just read on ESPN.Insider (so I won't put the text here) that Jerome James of the Sonics can opt out of his contract this summer.

Anybody else like the idea of the Pacers offering him the mid-level exception next summer?

His numbers aren't much, but 7'1"/ 272 lbs. is a difficult 'skill' to coach. I guess I'm concerned about his 1.35 TO per game - he's #11 in the league in TO per minute. If he's got oven mitts for hands, well we've already got Pollard (although I'm also thinking sign-and-trade). Has anybody watched him play enough to critique his game/ skills/ weaknesses?
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Swap Pollard for James? Yes please.

Few teams in the league are as desperate for solid Center play as Seattle.

They've determined that James can't help them, and that Potopenko of all people is much better.

He's not worth the exception and may not even be worth a roster spot over Brezac.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

I'm not a fan of James. Let him eat up some other teams cash for little return.

Because Seattle isn't exactly solid (in my opinion) at PF either, perhaps James is less valuable than Potopenko in that system.

My thought is that if I was picking one of thier guys to play with JO, it would be James, although I would argue that Vitaly is more skilled offensively/ scoring than James and that's not exactly a ringing endoresement.

He's shown flashes...but all in all he's a poor mans Michael Olowokandi.... consider taking a look at him....but not for the MLE.

Pass. He's not even close to what we need.

We need at least two things going into next season. A bona fide center, not a pretender. And a good perimeter shooter, preferably a shooting guard. I'll take Dampier and Brent Barry, if it can be worked out.

he's big and tall, that's it.

unless donnie or larry thinks they can light a match under him - he can probably play better, but has shone little sign of it so far.

With our team salary over 60 million next year, I don't think we'll be using the mid-level exception and adding more salary.
